From the mail bag: Eric Holder: Gun-grabbing opportunist

When it's all over Holder...How would you like to be tried and convicted...just like at Neremberg!

I'll leave it to the reader to settle on what poetic justice you would prescribe as regards Eric "nation of cowards" Holder over his intention to reinstate the expired federal assault weapons ban signed by President Clinton in 1994. This columnist already has a major beef with the prissy, grayish attorney general over his remarks vis-à-vis race relations in America, and firmly believes that they were calculated to set the stage for the Obama administration's prospective maneuverings in this area – a foreshadowing of things to come, as it were.

But that's another story. … During these times in which some of the most capricious and malignant individuals have come to influence the fate and fortune of the American people, I am indescribably grateful that – at least for the moment – I have the opportunity to widely convey my thoughts. It certainly beats seething and cursing in front of the brainsucker box until the massive coronary kicks in. So, until they find that kilo of Peruvian flake "hidden" under the seat of my car, you're stuck with me.

I've been a gun-rights advocate for decades now; as a former resident of the state of New York, I can attest firsthand as to how things tend to play out in a civil setting when the only people who have firearms are law enforcement, the privileged – and, of course, criminals. The only way our governments (federal, state and local) have been able to gain any leverage at all in the area of gun control has been through disinformation, emotionalism and the fact that Americans are not familiar with the Constitution. Second Amendment protections were put in place so that we could shoot operatives of an oppressive government, not deer.

Having cleared that up, suffice it to say that Eric Holder is but another floatie in the septic tank that is the Obama administration, albeit a pretty significant one. Another arrogant, smooth-talking, soulless suit, he is attempting to turn a case of gross government negligence into yet another opportunity to diminish our constitutional rights.

Reinstating the ban would obviously be a blatant violation of the Second Amendment, but what really rankles and demonstrates Holder's floatiness is the pretext:

The bloodbath occurring on our border with Mexico (due to the activities of drug cartels) now being reported was at least a year late in receiving press. Kidnappings and particularly gruesome murders along the border have been on the increase for at least two years, and they have not been restricted to participants in the drug trade. Misdirecting Americans from the fact that our government has done nothing but curry votes and dollars in addressing the problem of illegal immigration, Holder now says that reinstating the ban "will have a positive impact in Mexico" in that it will decrease the flow of guns from the U.S. into Mexico. To add insult to injury, the attorney general had the temerity to blame Americans' affinity for street drugs, at least in part, for the border violence. How he did it with a straight face is anyone's guess.

Holder's logic is transparently fallacious as well as disingenuous; if our government can't keep drugs and people from coming in, how do they expect to keep guns from leaving? The answer is that they can't, but this is all moot, since it isn't a Mexico issue. It's a power issue. Holder's declarations are predatory political opportunism of the highest order – or is it the lowest?

A few words here on what does – and does not – constitute an "assault weapon." Primarily, assault weapons are semiautomatic rifles, in other words, those capable of firing multiple times without reloading. While some of these are "cut back" versions of military firearms originally designed to fire in full-automatic (machine gun) mode, nothing classified as an assault weapon is fully automatic. No doubt that confusion regarding this distinction among Americans has been a great boon to gun-control advocates in government.

Widespread bank failures, trillion-dollar bailouts and the specter of a possible depression were laughable prospects to most people a year ago. At this juncture, most Americans still believe that people disappearing in the night, cattle cars and gulags are so out of the realm of possibility as to be laughable. Yet, these things are not usually too far behind firearms seizures. How far might we be from that right now?

Those historic Marxist figures whom our president so admires implemented just such tactics. How much proof do we need that the "it can't happen here" mentality is all but begging for "it" to indeed occur?

Obama Breaks Promises...Oh? Is that so!

One thing you must understand about Obama...now don't criticize me for pointing out facts. Obama does not know the difference between a promise or a lie; he and others like him, have no conscience. And that's a fact!
Promises? Why they're just to get votes and mean nothing more or nothing less. Truth? The truth is not a part of his vocabulary. And that's a fact! - Norman E. Hooben

Economists Give Obama Failing Grade; New Bailouts Demanded As Obama Breaks Promises

Economists Give Obama Failing Grade; New Bailouts Demanded As Obama Breaks Promises

Obama gets a failing grade from economists. “U.S. President Barack Obama and Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner received failing grades for their efforts to revive the economy from participants in the latest Wall Street Journal forecasting survey.”

Not content with the $8 trillion the Obama Administration has already committed for bailouts, pork, and welfare, Treasury Secretary Geithner, who was confirmed by the Senate despite cheating on his taxes, wants to spend $100 billion on IMF loans to bail out struggling nations in Eastern Europe and elsewhere — even though many European “officials doubt the wisdom of falling deeply into debt to create jobs and halt the plunge in consumer demand, as the United States is doing.”

Wal-Mart’s stock rating has been downgraded due to the possible passage of card-check legislation supported by Obama, which could lead to “diminished workforce flexibility” and pay based on “seniority” rather than merit, as a result of compulsory arbitration provisions contained in the bill. (The bill could also lead to intimidation of workers). The stock market has also fallen this year as investors have become disenchanted with the Administration.

The Federal Government may face increasing calls to bail out state governments, which have run up trillions of dollars in unfunded, and incredibly generous, pension liabilities to state employees in contracts negotiated with their unions using deliberately-deceptive accounting.

Obama broke his campaign promise to curb earmarks by signing a bloated, $410 billion appropriations bill that contained 8,500 earmarks totaling $7.7 billion. It also broke his campaign promise of a “net spending cut.”

Obama broke seven campaign promises dealing with transparency and clean government in signing the economy-shrinking, $800 billion stimulus package, much of whose contents were secret until shortly before Congress voted on it, and whose 1400 pages went unread by most Congressmen who voted on it.

Earlier, Obama repeatedly broke his promises not to sign bills without first giving the public five days to comment. “Too often bills are rushed through Congress and to the president before the public has the opportunity to review them,” Obama’s campaign Web site stated. “As president, Obama will not sign any nonemergency bill without giving the American public an opportunity to review and comment on the White House Web site for five days.”

But Obama has repeatedly signed laws without providing such notice, such as the Ledbetter Fair Pay Act, his very first law, which he signed less than 2 days after it was passed by the House, with no opportunity for comment. Moreover, in signing the Ledbetter law, Obama made false claims about both the facts of the Supreme Court case that the Ledbetter law overturned, and what the Supreme Court actually held in that case.

The Washington Post’s David Ignatius, finally losing patience with Obama, criticizes the Administration’s focus on anything but fixing the economy’s underlying ills, calling its economic policies a “phony war” characterized by economic “mismanagement.” “Economist David Smick had it right in The Post this week when he said the administration had a three-pronged strategy: delay, delay and delay. The administration announces a rescue package but doesn’t deliver details; it promises budget discipline but saves the hard decisions for later,” while stacking the Obama “administration with politicians and former government officials,” who lack “experience managing large organizations in crisis.”

Like us, Michael Barone says that the Treasury Department and Fed Chairman Ben Bernanke, through their arbitrary, “ad hoc” approach to the financial crisis (such as their unpredictable and inconsistent decisions about which companies to bail out), have exacerbated the current financial crisis by leaving “players in the financial markets full of uncertainty and fear.”

Short Note: Let's get it right next time or there won't be a next time!

To all you Obama supporters who are beginning to cry over spilt milk...I don't want to hear it! You now complain about the idiots in Congress that did not read the eleven-hundred page stimulus bill before voting on it.

Myself and others warned you this would happen...and you didn't want to read the warnings.

And your biggest mistake...You did not read the man!!!

America's biggest mistake...we allow stupid people to vote! Smarten up and get it right in 2010...that is, if we still have the right to vote.

The message now is, "Empty out the House Of Representatives and replace it with non-party members. No more Democrats nor Republicans. Get ordinary people (no lawyers!) to represent you. Do not support ANY candidate that is supported by the New York Times or ANY newspaper. The media is controlled by the Left Wing ideologues that got us into this mess.
Remember, "You did not cause these problems!" The people you voted for caused ALL of the problems!

As for the U.S. Senate...one third will be up for re-election...THROW 'EM ALL OUT! Let's get our country back! - Norman E. Hooben

Just a reminder...I warned you about this long before you ever heard of Glenn Beck.

Do You Feel Safe With Obama? - An alarming video... - A MUST SEE FOR EVERY AMERICAN -

I suppose the Obama supporters will never see this video. Even if they did, they would not believe it. Instead, they will continue to make poor excuses for the poorest excuse that ever confiscated the White House.
This video is indeed very alarming. And with that said, "Why is it widely spread over the Internet? What has the CIA or the Justice Department said of this? Was it included in Obama's daily security briefing? If not, why not?
My own sneaky suspicions are that Obama is well aware of the contents of this video and that he could care less about such content...when the political winds turn ugly, these are his friends.

While you are watching this video be thinking about this: (Please read before watching the video. Could it be possible that these three where on a test run? You can take odds on the bet but I wouldn't take your money.)

A Rio Grande Valley man is expected to appear a federal courtroom in McAllen on Thursday morning after he allegedly helped smuggle three Iraqi nationals into the United States.

Federal court documents show that Border Patrol arrested Juan de Dios Martinez-Vela during a March 12 incident in the Hidalgo County community of Los Ebanos.

A criminal complaint shows that a Border Patrol agent saw several subjects crossing the Rio Grande and getting into a vehicle.

Another Border Patrol agent posted off Military and El Faro Roads stopped a pick up truck carrying three passengers in the back.

The driver was a identified as Martinez-Vela, a 28-year-old American citizen.

The passengers did not speak English or Spanish and were later identified as:

  • Wshyar Mohammed-Salih
  • Majeed Aziz-Beirut
  • Awat Mahmood-Qadir

Border Patrol agents learned all three men were from Iraq and had paid $20,000 to be smuggled into the United States.

The three Iraqi men told Border Patrol agents that they made their smuggling arrangements in Iraq with a man in Iraq, who works for a smuggler named "Murat".

Court records do not indicate if Martinez-Vela works for or with "Murat" but show Martinez-Vela faces human smuggling charges.

Martinez-Vela is expected to appear before U.S. Magisistrate Judge Dorina Ramos in McAllen at 9:30 a.m. Thursday.

Court records do not show why the Iraqi immigrants crossed illegally into the United States but many other immigrants from Iraq and Lebanon caught in the Rio Grande Valley have claimed to be Christians or war refugees seeking asylum.
