Climate Change...The doom fantasy!

More climate change hysteria: shifting the poles
By Thomas Lifson
Is there any sort of doom fantasy that can’t be blamed on global warming climate change? Perhaps some wag will submit and get published a paper arguing that an alien invasion of earth is more likely thanks to global warming climate change. Rick Moran already reported on one fantasy today, but the scenarios are coming faster and faster, even as the atmosphere as seen from satellites stubbornly refuses to warm. As hysterics have always known, when reality fails to conform to your predictions, the response is to shout louder.
What is so remarkable about the cult of doom built around the manmade global warming climate change hypothesis is how deeply it has captured academic and scientific institutions. Scientific American has a proud history explaining science and technology, but it has lost its standards when it comes to climate. Witness this bit of silliness:

The north pole [sic] is on the run. Although it can drift as much as 10 meters across a century, sometimes returning to near its origin, it has recently taken a sharp turn to the east. Climate change is the likely culprit….
Likely, as in not proven, but we think so. And why does the Scientific American think so?
The data do not indicate whether the recent climate changes are man-made, but [Jianli] Chen [a geophysicist at The University of Texas at Austin who first proposed the hypothesis] personally believes the drastic shift in the pole has to be the result of human activities.
So it is a personal belief not based on data.  It just has to be the cause. Like a religion, except claiming a scientific basis and published as a near certainty by the most prestigious popularizer of science in the United States.
