Islam is the Fastest Growing Religion - Not

Time to add a new category: Islamic Myths. I should have started this much sooner. I will be going back to previous posts to tag any that should be included so expect to see entries being added as time goes by.
In response to my article More Offensive Muslim Jokes, a reader calling herself "teenage Muslim girl in the US" left a comment informing me that: "Actually, it was just recently stated that Islam has become the most popular religion in the world, and it is still the fastest growing. So we are not second anymore."
One sees this type of nonsense on thousands of forums and blogs as if size and speed of growth are proof that Islam is the one and only true and perfect religion. Actually cancer spreads just as fast and affects more people, so does that make cancer the one and only true and perfect disease?
But let's look at the numbers.
According to Adherents.com 1, Christianity is the largest religion, followed by Islam and then by those who do not believe in God or non-religious coming in third. More than 75% of the peoples of Earth are not Muslims. That is to say, Islam is not the most popular religion.
But is it the fastest growing? And if so, does this show that people are choosing Islam over other religions?
Certainly Muslims reproduce faster than rabbits. At least rabbits have the good sense not to fill their warrens more than their numbers can sustain. Muslims in Europe are the least employed, the most poverty-ridden, the most likely to be criminals, the least able to provide for themselves and yet their fertility rates are the highest on the continent. And since a child of Muslim parents must become Muslim then certainly Islam is the fastest growing religion in western countries, although this has nothing to do with choice but with fertility.
So if you want to say your religion is growing fast because its adherents reproduce like cockroaches, fine. But this has nothing to do with choosing a religion because of its beauty or truth or perfection.
If Muslims were allowed to become non-Muslim without the risk of death most of those who are born Muslim would undoubtedly choose some other religion.
I say this because of the facts. When those who are neither Muslim nor Christian are given a choice of religion without compulsion, the overwhelming choice is Christianity. During the period 1990 to 2000 [Chart] 2,501,396 people converted to Christianity, while 865,558 converted to Islam and most of the latter were likely forced conversions (see my article When Infidel Women Say No).
Thus if one looks at which religion is the fastest growing one by choice, it isn't Islam. As for the fastest growing by sheer numbers, it isn't Islam. In terms of percentage growth, it isn't Islam - the statistics say that Baha'is are growing at a faster rate (2.28) and faster still are Zoroastrians (2.65). If you Muslims believe that the fastest growing religion must be the one true religion then you better convert to one of those religions that you are currently persecuting.
So Muslim Girl, Islam is not the most popular, is certainly not the choice of most of those converting, and is only the fastest growing in places where other populations are less fertile.
The truth is, without American and European aid and technology, your backward, primitive, savage, ignorant asses would be decimated by hunger, misery and disease. That is to say, without Christian Charity Islam would be the slowest growing religion.
It's sad that your schools only teach you to hate the West while we are the only thing keeping you alive.

Islam is the fastest growing religion, but I feel this is because it is newer. I do think that the group of people that would refer to themselves as atheist/agnostic is growing faster -- but I suppose that isn't really a religion.

The Atheist Perspective
First thing you need to do is look up the listed religions and do a search as to when they were founded...Islam, because it is newer? Give me a break!
When one has a firm set of beliefs, especially about our origins, whether it involves a God or gods or no gods at all, it is their tenets that indeed make it a religion.
I believe the article stated that both Baha'is and Zoroastrians are the faster growing religions. What makes you say that the atheist/agnostic are growing faster. Is it because you belong to one or the other? Simply joining or the act of being a member of a group does not make you faster growing. In my humble opinion, I cannot comprehend that anyone can believe that there is no God. No God? Then who? Things don't materialize from nothing unless there is a supernatural being allowing such phenomenons. The essence of believing in God is a thing called faith...if you don't have it, then maybe God will send you a message one day and not only will you see the light, awhole new world will open up to you that you have never seen before. Have faith my fiend, its good for the soul...oh, you got to have one of them also.

Well said! Add to this the fact that most of the lost souls in the west who are searching for meaning, and think they find it in Islam leave Islam within 2 years. It's an unpublicized scandal among the Islamic hierarchy that 600,000 africans leave Islam for christianity every year. Islam cannot keep condemning people to death for leaving, and as that stranglehold is relaxed,t he leaks are turning into a flood. The wheels are coming off Muhammad's cart, and it can't happen soon enough!
Well actually, Wikipedia might have forgotten to tell you that for every person that converts to christianty, greater numbers are leaving it.Many Muslims however remain Muslims. That is not because of the fear of death. Because really, no body can force you to believe. People who don't believe really can find a way. Would you believe in something only because you feared death? I hope not. Anyways,the reason many Muslims stay Muslim is because they have been revealed to the divine truth in the Quran. Of course you wouldn't know. You've never read it. Mohammed was able to identify facts of the world way before his time. For instance, the earth is round, the oceans have no light at the bottom, mountains are embedded deep w/in the ground etc. He was able to describe the development of the embryo in great detail. He also knew that the front part of the head (cerebrum) is responsible for lying Do some googling and you'll find a whole list . Ask your self this, how would an illiterate man that lived 1400 years ago know about all these things. Scientist have only identifies mountain bases and tectonic plates recently.Fetal dovelopment has only been studied for a couple of decades.
And to comment on your hater post,the fact that a lot of the Muslims STAY Muslims, does make it the fastest growing religion. If you want more info or want to argue my e-mail is:
