America is in Jeopardy

For all the channels television has to offer there's very few that I watch on a regular basis...and I live at two locations; one with satellite television and the other with a cable subscription. In my opinion the cable subscription has it all over the satellite thing which is a complete waste of money ~~for~~ from my wallet. But I'm not here to talk about the pros and cons of one system versus the other. More often than naught I try to watch the quiz show Jeopardy; it has to have some of the smartest contestants in the world. A highlight of any show is when I give myself an 'atta-boy' for knowing the question to the answer (contestants have to precede their answer in the "What is... or Who is..." format), especially if the contestant has not responded. It never ceases to amaze me the broad categories that the contestants have knowledge of...world history, ancient history, opera, popular music, mathematics, science, medicine, politics, current events and the list goes on but I'll stop right their; politics and current events.
Whatever the category was tonight does not matter. What matters was the correct response from any one of the three participants. The wording was very clear such that I gave myself an 'atta-boy' for the correct response to two of Alex Trebec's (the show's moderator) questions. But that's not the point.
The point is none of the contestants knew Leon Panetta or General Petraeus. Give me a break! The smartest people in the world and they did not know! I bet these people vote, and if the do, we're in big trouble. Jeopardy to say the least! Anyone that is eligible to vote should at least know what is going on within their government. The two people mentioned above have been in the news and have played major roles in the game of politics in the last six or more years. And when un-informed voters vote the game will soon be over and it won't end with some prize for the smartest but a surprise for the dumbest!

Meanwhile, I was a poll watcher on more than one occasion so I have witnessed some of the corrupt practices that go on at the voting precinct. What concerns me most about this is that none or very few of the people involved with the corruption get any punishment...and the corruption continues. I once hung up the phone on a corrupt judge who would not come down to the polling place. Long story short... I told her to get down here and do her job. She never showed up. Then there's any number of video's on YouTube and elsewhere that captures corrupt practices. "Caught on camera.", so the saying goes!

There was a Chemistry professor in a large college that had some Exchange students in the class. One day while the class was in the lab the Prof noticed one young man (exchange student) who kept rubbing his back And stretching as if his back hurt.
The professor asked the young man what was the matter. The student told him he had a bullet lodged in his back. He had been shot while fighting communists in his native country who were trying to overthrow his country's government and install a new communist government.
In the midst of his story he looked at the professor and asked a strange question. He asked,'Do you know how to catch wild pigs?' The professor thought it was a joke and asked for the punch line. The young man said this was no joke. 'You catch wild pigs by finding a suitable place in the woods and putting corn on the ground. The pigs find it and begin to come everyday to eat the free corn. When they are used to coming every day, you put a fence down one side of the place where they are used to coming. When they get used to the fence, they begin to eat the corn again and you put up another side of the fence. They get used to that and start to eat again. You continue until you have all four sides of the fence up with a gate in the last side. The pigs, who are used to the free corn, start to come through the gate to eat, you slam the gate on them and catch the whole herd. Suddenly, the wild pigs have lost their freedom. They run around and around inside the fence, but they are caught. Soon they go back to eating the free corn. They are so used to it that they have forgotten how to forage in the woods for themselves, so they accept their captivity. The young man then told the professor that is exactly what he sees happening to America.
The government keeps pushing us toward Communism/Socialism and keeps spreading the free corn out in the form of programs such as supplemental income, tax credit for unearned income, subsidies, payments not to plant crops (CRP), welfare, medicine, drugs, etc. while we continually lose our freedoms- just a little at a time.
One should always remember 'There is no such thing as a free Lunch!' Also, 'You can never hire someone to provide a service for you cheaper than you can do it yourself.

You apparently don't share a sense of patriotism, Americanism, freedomism, or whatever kind of 'ism' that true Americans believe in... You do however, display a bit of socialism, communism, marxism or whatever kind of 'ism' that you make excuses for... ~ Norman E. A nation that knows not from where it came, knows not where it is going! Today, Americans know too little about the foundations of our nation.
