I love it. Some members of the Democratic Progressive Caucus were caught with their pants down this week. Turns out that their "brainstorming" session on the California budget was accidentally broadcast throughout the entire Capitol building. And boy, did their true colors shine through.
Remember, it's been the Democrats that keep accusing the Republicans of stalling the budget process and of starving kids and killing old people if they get their version of the budget.
Well, guess what? Liberal Democrats like Jackie Goldberg admitted (in what they thought were private conversations) that it was in their interest to keep the stalemate going. It would, in their view, help them get the votes of the people to reduce the vote threshold for spending increases from a "Super majority" to a simple 55% majority.
JACKIE GOLDBERG: "But we have to figure out what we do think. And I do think it has to be in line with two things....One is how it impacts the 55% proposition. And secondly whether or not--if there's going to be a crisis to happen--if there's going to be a crisis, whether it should be this year or next year, in terms of members of our House who want to get re-elected, in terms of members of our House who (inaudible). Personally, I think the crisis is better off this year than next year."
And then, in a classic Keystone Cops scene, an unidentified staffer chimes in to the bunch: "Excuse me, guys, you can be heard outside."
To which, Jackie Goldberg exclaimed: "Oh Sh--!"
Oh yes indeed. Classic liberals caught once more with feet firmly in mouths. They've accused the Republicans of starving people and killing people for every day that we don't have a budget. Doesn't this revealing scene above make them accessories to murder, if we use their same analogy?
(Thanks to Assemblyman Tony Cox and his office for providing a transcript of this embarrassing conversation.)

"2 Recon Teams Dropped Behind Enemy Lines to Go After Taliban ..." Oh?... Is that so? CBS! What are you thinking?
About two dozen Marines were inserted into an area where skilled Taliban marksmen are known to operate, an officer said, speaking on condition of anonymity because of security concerns. Read the rest of the story here ... See video here

Quick facts, via Heritage and WAPO: Bush vs Obama
- President Bush expanded the federal budget by a historic $700 billion through 2008. President Obama would add another $1 trillion.
- President Bush began a string of expensive financial bailouts. President Obama is accelerating that course.
- President Bush created a Medicare drug entitlement that will cost an estimated $800 billion in its first decade. President Obama has proposed a $634 billion down payment on a new government health care fund.
- President Bush increased federal education spending 58 percent faster than inflation. President Obama would double it.
- President Bush became the first President to spend 3 percent of GDP on federal antipoverty programs. President Obama has already increased this spending by 20 percent.
- President Bush tilted the income tax burden more toward upper-income taxpayers. President Obama would continue that trend.
- President Bush presided over a $2.5 trillion increase in the public debt through 2008. Setting aside 2009 (for which Presidents Bush and Obama share responsibility for an additional $2.6 trillion in public debt), President Obama’s budget would add $4.9 trillion in public debt from the beginning of 2010 through 2016.

A plane crashed into a Northwest Austin building that houses federal offices about 10 this morning, injuring several people and sparking a fire that sent plumes of smoke into the air that could be seen for miles.
A Federal Aviation Administration spokesman said the crash, at the Echelon 1 building in the 9400 block of Research Boulevard, was “apparently a criminal act.”
Austin Fire Department Division Chief Dawn Clopton said that the FBI would be taking over the investigation.
The plane, a single-engine Piper Cherokee PA-28-236 Dakota, took off from a Georgetown airport at 9:40 a.m., Federal Aviation Administration spokeswoman Laura Brown said just after noon.
A federal official confirmed for the Statesman that its tail number is registered to a plane owned by Joseph Andrew Stack, a private plane pilot whose nearby home was on fire at roughly the same time.
The North Austin home was destroyed, but officials have not linked the two incidents.
A note posted on a Web site registered to Stack suggested that Stack was disgruntled with the U.S. tax system.
It is unclear who was piloting the plane when it crashed into the building.
An IRS revenue collection agent who worked on the building’s second floor is missing, said Mark Menn, a 59-year-old field revenue agent who worked in the building. Menn declined to give the man’s name.
Matilda Sanchez, spokeswoman for the Seton Family of Hospitals, said an injured man was admitted to University Medical Center Brackenridge in good condition with minor injuries and smoke inhalation. A second person, whose gender she did not know, was stabilized and airlifted to the burn unit at Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio in serious condition with burn injuries.

Authorities have been unable to reach the crash impact site and do not yet know the condition of the pilot, Clopton said.
“That is part of the building that is unstable,” she said. Battalion Chief Palmer Buck said that part of building has collapsed and some steel beams are bowed down.
The pilot did not file a flight plan or, as far as FAA officials know at this time, have any other contact with the agency.
The Internal Revenue Service has offices in the building, including its civil enforcement and criminal investigations divisions, said Special Agent Michael Lemoine, a spokesman for the criminal investigations division.
He said that some IRS offices are on the first floor, which Lemoine said was hit by the plane.
He said that the criminal investigations division personnel are safe and accounted for. He did not have information on the civil division workers, who conduct audits and other activity at the offices.
William Winnie, an Internal Revenue Service agent, said he was in a training session on the third floor of the building when he saw a light-colored, single-engine plane coming at the building.
“It looked like it was coming right in my window,” Winnie said. He said the plane veered down and to the left and crashed into the floors below. “I didn’t lose my footing, but it was enough to knock people who were sitting to the floor.”

At a 12:30 p.m. press conference, Police Chief Art Acevedo said local police are working with federal authorities on the investigation. “The investigation is fluid and ongoing,” Acevedo said.
Austin Mayor Lee Leffingwell praised the response of emergency officials.
“I want to assure the citizens of Austin, Texas, that they are safe. There is no danger. The situation is totally contained,” Leffingwell said.
Mischelle Diaz, a spokeswoman for St. Edward’s University, said the plane hit next to a building where the university’s Professional Education Center provides software training and teaches some graduate students. She said the education center has been evacuated and that university officials were trying to confirm that students and instructors all got out safely.
“We’re just desperately trying to get some information,” Diaz said.
The American Red Cross of Central Texas will be providing food and water to the firefighters and investigators at the crash site, said spokeswoman Marty McKellips.
They are also calling in mental health professionals to tend to crash survivors. Many people are shaken up and there are still some people missing, she said.

Time to add a new category: Islamic Myths. I should have started this much sooner. I will be going back to previous posts to tag any that should be included so expect to see entries being added as time goes by.
In response to my article More Offensive Muslim Jokes, a reader calling herself "teenage Muslim girl in the US" left a comment informing me that: "Actually, it was just recently stated that Islam has become the most popular religion in the world, and it is still the fastest growing. So we are not second anymore."
One sees this type of nonsense on thousands of forums and blogs as if size and speed of growth are proof that Islam is the one and only true and perfect religion. Actually cancer spreads just as fast and affects more people, so does that make cancer the one and only true and perfect disease?
But let's look at the numbers.
According to Adherents.com 1, Christianity is the largest religion, followed by Islam and then by those who do not believe in God or non-religious coming in third. More than 75% of the peoples of Earth are not Muslims. That is to say, Islam is not the most popular religion.
But is it the fastest growing? And if so, does this show that people are choosing Islam over other religions?
Certainly Muslims reproduce faster than rabbits. At least rabbits have the good sense not to fill their warrens more than their numbers can sustain. Muslims in Europe are the least employed, the most poverty-ridden, the most likely to be criminals, the least able to provide for themselves and yet their fertility rates are the highest on the continent. And since a child of Muslim parents must become Muslim then certainly Islam is the fastest growing religion in western countries, although this has nothing to do with choice but with fertility.
So if you want to say your religion is growing fast because its adherents reproduce like cockroaches, fine. But this has nothing to do with choosing a religion because of its beauty or truth or perfection.
If Muslims were allowed to become non-Muslim without the risk of death most of those who are born Muslim would undoubtedly choose some other religion.
I say this because of the facts. When those who are neither Muslim nor Christian are given a choice of religion without compulsion, the overwhelming choice is Christianity. During the period 1990 to 2000 [Chart] 2,501,396 people converted to Christianity, while 865,558 converted to Islam and most of the latter were likely forced conversions (see my article When Infidel Women Say No).
Thus if one looks at which religion is the fastest growing one by choice, it isn't Islam. As for the fastest growing by sheer numbers, it isn't Islam. In terms of percentage growth, it isn't Islam - the statistics say that Baha'is are growing at a faster rate (2.28) and faster still are Zoroastrians (2.65). If you Muslims believe that the fastest growing religion must be the one true religion then you better convert to one of those religions that you are currently persecuting.
So Muslim Girl, Islam is not the most popular, is certainly not the choice of most of those converting, and is only the fastest growing in places where other populations are less fertile.
The truth is, without American and European aid and technology, your backward, primitive, savage, ignorant asses would be decimated by hunger, misery and disease. That is to say, without Christian Charity Islam would be the slowest growing religion.
It's sad that your schools only teach you to hate the West while we are the only thing keeping you alive.

Watch Glenn Beck as he tries to destroy a candidate that is not part of the two-party trap. Then watch as Chris Mathews does the same exact thing using the same exact technique. This is proof that the Tea Party movement is REAL, and a REAL threat to the Establishment. It also proves that the "Left Media" and the "Right Media" are controlled by ONE group with ONE agenda. The SAME ONE group controls the Republican Party politicians and the Democrat Party politicians. Both interviews start out nice, and ease into the "Trap" topic.
Glenn Becks right-side attack:
This is CLEAR proof that the Establishment controls BOTH the Republican talking heads and the Democrat talking heads. What we are seeing is Chris Mathews (left side of the game, MSNBC), of the Establishment Media trying to destroy the Tea Party movement. Notice in this video how the Establishment Media is trying to merge the Tea Party with the Republican party. This is clear propaganda. Richard Mack is a true Patriot! They tried to trap him. This is the EXACT same tactic Glenn Beck (right side of the game, Fox) pulled on Medina. They have developed this technique using this "9-11 Truther" question, and the brainwashed people fall for it. But Sheriff Mack is a leader. And he is strong in his principles. He IS for real.
Thanks for sending this link. THIS IS CLEAR PROOF THAT THE TEA PARTY MOVEMENT IS A TRUE THREAT TO THE ESTABLISHMENTS CONTROL OVER US USING THE TWO-PARTY SYSTEM! BOTH SIDES ARE TRYING TO DESTROY IT!

(Note from Norm: You know what I say to that? "Whoopee! 859 companies finally wised up! And bravo to those American companies that finally saw the light. Communicate On Progress is just another name for Cop...only this time they're the power hungry New World Order cops from the dreaded UN)
(New York, 1 February 2010) – Today, the Global Compact Office announced that 859 companies were removed (delisted) from the initiative’s database of participants between 1 October 2009 and 1 January 2010*. The total number of businesses removed for failure to meet the Global Compact’s mandatory annual reporting requirement now stands at 1840.
Under the Global Compact’s policies, participating businesses must issue an annual progress report (also known as Communication on Progress, or COP) on their implementation of the initiative’s ten principles covering human rights, workplace standards, the environment, and anti-corruption. Consecutive failure to submit a COP to the Global Compact’s public database leads to the delisting. The delisting policy was first introduced in January 2008, as part of the Global Compact’s integrity measures.
At the same time, the Global Compact continues to experience strong growth. In January of this year, 127 companies joined the initiative, bringing the total to over 5,300 active business participants from more than 135 countries
“A commitment to public disclosure on performance is critical to the transparency and integrity of the Global Compact,” said Georg Kell, Executive Director of the UN Global Compact. “At the same, more and more companies are beginning to understand the importance of environmental and social reporting for the continuous improvement of their own performance.”
While delisted companies are removed entirely from the Global Compact’s database, the initiative does keep the door open for those companies willing to return. To rejoin the Global Compact, companies must send a new commitment signed by the chief executive officer to UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon and submit a COP to the Global Compact database.
* The Global Compact Office notes that the high number of delistings between October 2009 and January 2010 is due to a policy adjustment which led to the elimination of the “inactive” status in the Global Compact database. Companies are now delisted after one-year of being marked as “non-communicating”.
