Bush Warned Us While Democrats Laughed And Applauded

Now that President Bush is no longer in office, I am amazed at how he was considered the stupidest President ever, scoffed at and ridiculed for being inept, yet so many of his predictions are coming true.

The latest is over his efforts to reform Social Security when he was giving ominous warnings of potential failure, bankruptcy and large deficits.

In his 2006 State of the Union Address, he mentioned how Congress failed to act on any of his proposals to reform Social Security, at which time virtually every single Democrat in the hall stood and applauded, interrupting the speech. They were delighted to have stopped his efforts and yes, they were very rude about it.

Can you say “Joe Wilson?”

No, they did not call him a liar this time, but nonetheless, they were very rude in interrupting the speech, as can be seen in the video below.

Hard to see in the video is then junior Senator from Illinois, Barrack Hussein Obama, who also joined in the merriment at defeating any reforms to the growing Social Security deficits looming before us.



They offered no alternatives, just more of the same old status quo they are seen deriding today.

Imagine my astonishment, sitting here one year and one day away from that magical early retirement age, unemployed with little prospect of finding gainful employment, what with unemployment hitting 13.9% in my area and reading Social Security strained by early retirements.

Oh?

Nancy Pelosi, now speaker of the house and others said in 2005,

“There is no Social Security crisis. We all agree that there is a problem down the road that we should address before it becomes a bigger problem?” She added, “Along comes President Bush who wants to create a crisis and manufacture an issue, and in so doing turn a guaranteed benefit into a guaranteed gamble. And to that we and American people say: ‘Mr. President, no dice!’”

March 6, 2005 Pelosi appeared on Fox News Sunday and addressing Social Security reforms said,

“Your previous speaker said incorrectly that Social Security would be in the red in 2018. That’s simply not true. The more money going out than coming in doesn’t start until 2030. There's time for us to do this right.”

Well, Ms. Pelosi, it’s 2009 and you have been speaker for over 2 years and what have you proposed? NOTHING! Social Security is facing deficits of $10 billion in 2010 and $9 billion in 2011 due to the high unemployment amongst those of us of retirement age who can’t find work to continue to work until 65 or 67.

Candidate Obama said during last years campaign,

“But if my opponent had his way, the millions of Floridians who rely on it would’ve had their Social Security tied up in the stock market this week. Millions would’ve watched as the market tumbled and their nest egg disappeared before their eyes. Millions of families would’ve been scrambling to figure out how to give their mothers and fathers, their grandmothers and grandfathers, the secure retirement that every American deserves,”

in a total misrepresentation of what President Bush’s proposal was, as indicated by none other then the left-leaning Factcheck.org.

Just days before being inaugurated as president, Obama said about the looming Social Security problems,

“What we have done is kicked this can down the road. We are now at the end of the road and are not in a position to kick it any further. We have to signal seriousness in this by making sure some of the hard decisions are made under my watch, not someone else’s.”

In the campaign, depending on where and to whom he spoke to, Social Security was either a crisis or not in a crisis.

Today, Obama indicates the problem of Social Security is something he would like to look into “next year.”

In the meantime, while we wait for dear leader to solve every other ill of society, millions of us hitting early retirement age, unemployed and with only a slim possibility of returning to a viable job any time soon with the ever-rising unemployment rates, wonder what we are to do.

Watching the video again, as Democrats gleefully and emphatically applauded their successful efforts at blocking the prevention of this current crisis 4 years ago, I can’t help but wonder if this might be another one of those times dear leader feels older Americans should just skip the cure and take a painkiller.

"Doomsday" ...Reality tells us that it was not predicted but rather a well planned series of events.

No one would deny that there is a great deal of bickering going on between the far left the far right and everything in the middle. Everybody is proclaiming their ideology is best for the country which only proves we are broken up into more and more factions of differing opinions. Dr. Danielle Allen once gave an interview to the Washington Post where she proclaimed that there were more factions to deal with in Revolutionary times than there are today. She is obviously confused...but then again, she is an Obama supporter and that in itself is a faction to contend with. All Obama supporters are confused between what Obama says and what Obama does but they continue to support him because they don't analyze his Alinskyisms. But those very same people never figured out who Bill Clinton was either...nor Jimmy Carter, George Herbert Walker Bush, Hillary Clinton, George Soros, Henry Kissinger, Goldman-Sachs, and all the New World Order clan which is currently run by Obama. Obama is by far the most radical of all the previously mentioned but this was all predicted earlier in an interview with Kissinger on the Charlie Rose television program. Reality tells us that it was not predicted but rather a well planned series of events that will take place over time in order to assure complete breakdown of American society as we once knew it. Doomsday is Coming to America

In light of disclosure of Iran’s latest secret nuclear facility, Obama again repeated his call for “a world without nuclear weapons” at the U.N. G-20 summit this week. Of course this is a mere pipe dream and completely unrealistic. The genie is out of the bottle and can never be put back in. The best anyone can do is to prevent rogue nations from developing or acquiring nuclear weapons.

Obama has made for himself the reputation of a weak leader on the world stage who will not enforce anything on anyone other than the American people. He has even stated as much in his speech to the U.N. when he said he doesn’t think one nation should impose its will on another. What he really wants is to disarm America. He has made no secret of that.

Obama’s apologies and appeasement have not gone unnoticed by Iran. He thinks he, and the U.N. can threaten Iran with sanctions, again. How many times will Iran have to be sanctioned before diplomats learn that sanctions have no effect on Iran. They keep doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result. I believe it was Albert Einstein who defined that practice as “insanity.”

The only thing sanctions will do is punish the Iranian people, but not the leaders. Embargos of food and supplies will only starve the people, but not the leaders. They will agree to concessions which they never intend to keep, but will be glad to take whatever the U.N. offers them, then burst out laughing behind closed doors when a deal is made.

Did 17 U.N. resolutions and sanctions discourage Saddam Hussein from pursuing weapons of mass destruction? Of course not. Even if he got rid of them when he knew American soldiers were coming, he planned to restart the programs as soon as they left. Unfortunately for Saddam, that didn't quite work out, but then he never thought George W. Bush would see him hanged.

It is no different with Iran's ruling Mullahs. They will lie and cheat until the heat is off, while continuing to do exactly what they planned all along. Their one unshakable ambition is to develop nuclear weapons and missiles. No amount of diplomacy or sanctions are going to change that. Obama is a fool for not seeing it.

In Iran, Ahmadinejad is right in Obama's face with his missile test on Sunday coming on the heels of another secret nuclear facility being revealed. Ahmadinejad insists that Iran's nuclear program is for peaceful purposes. Can we then assume that his ballistic missiles are also for peaceful purposes, even when they are armed with peaceful nuclear warheads?

Obama and his drones in Congress think the solution to the Iranian problem is to engage in more failed diplomacy with the delusion that Iran would benefit more from peace offers from the U.S. than they would from their nuclear program - according to Senate Intelligence Committee chairman Diane Feinstein on Fox News Sunday. What they fail to recognize is that Iran isn't interested in what they can gain from peace offers; nor are they discouraged by sanctions. They are just as determined to have their nukes as Obama is to have his socialism.

In Afghanistan, General McChrystal wants up to 40,000 more troops to run a successful mission but the White House is stalling. Biden doesn't want to send more troops, and Obama hasn't received consensus from his czars - or the results from his focus group surveys yet - to tell him what would be the politically popular decision to make.

Too many of us assume that Obama and his people share our goal of resolving the conflicts with Iran and Afghanistan. This may be a false assumption. Just as false as assuming that Obama is interested in recovery of the free market economy when his entire life has been devoted to destroying it - so that it can be replaced with a socialist economy. If you think Obama wants what’s good for America, you’d better think again. He doesn’t care about America; he cares about global socialism and little more. And if that means destroying American capitalism, then that’s fine with him. In fact, it is preferred.

The purpose of the stimulus and other outrageous government spending is not to recover the economy, but rather to get as many people dependent on the government as possible. Less than 5% of the money authorized by the 2009 stimulus bill has been spent and none of that went to small businesses who need it the most. It has all gone to Obama friends and allies to create more government and union jobs, and more government control over industries. The greater portion of the money is being reserved for the two coming election years, 2010 and 2012, to be spend primarily on programs that benefit liberal interests, buy votes, and to get even more people dependent on government money.

Health care legislation is just a part of the plan. And keep in mind that even if the public (government) option does not make it into the final bill, it is still a government takeover of the health care industry including your personal health care and financial records. The Obama administration intends to run health care with or without the government option, just like they intend to run every other industry in America. That is their sole purpose and objective and the only way they can usher in a socialist system in America.

Obama’s allies, such as GE, have millions invested in creating a government digital records database to contain every citizen’s health and financial records. They have no intention of seeing their investments go down the drain and are depending on Obama and the liberal congress to see to it that it is put into place.

The “public option” seems to be the big talking point but that is just a distraction from the other larger issues in the bill. It's what they are not telling us about the bill that we have to worry about. The public option would destroy private health care insurance providers; the rest of the bill will destroy American liberties and freedom.

If this health care bill is supposed to be “budget neutral” as Obama claims, then why does it come with a trillion dollar price tag? How can Obama and the Democrats justify this kind of double-talk? Why is it that Congress can never pass a regulatory bill without spending billions of dollars at the same time? Why is it that every time they vote in Congress, it costs the taxpayer billions of dollars for rules and regulations that we don’t want?

Once you have the citizenry dependent on government where the private sector cannot compete and goes out of business, Democrats will have the elections locked up. You are going to be hearing in the campaigns that Republicans want to take away your health care, your government subsidized jobs, your home, your hybrid car, your children's education, your "green energy," and everything else that government has been usurping from the private sector over the past 50 years.

If that scares some people, then they are already subjects of this fascist government and are no longer free citizens. It should never have gone this far. Yes, it is going to be painful for some to restore this country to constitutional law, but the longer we wait, the more painful it is going to get. We have two choices: We can submit to defeat and surrender to the leftist politicians, or we can fight back by throwing them out of office in 2010.

If their socialist tactic is allowed to succeed, it will mean doomsday for America and we will no longer have a two party system or live in a free country. Recipients of government entitlements will be forced to vote for Democrats or fear losing those things they have become dependent upon from the government. This is one of the reasons why the Constitution places limits on the federal government, so that this kind of thing won’t happen in America. It has come time to put a stop to it.

Today's Democrat Party is the most dishonest and corrupt organization on the face of the planet. If you favor this kind of corruption in government, then all you have to do is vote for them. If these people are allowed to remain in power for even the next 3 years, it is going to spell doomsday for America in terms of economics, national security, and personal freedom. They must be stopped in 2010 or it will be the end of American freedom and liberty that this country has enjoyed for over 230 years.

Wiregrass Honor Flight vets return to Dothan

He had been awake and active for more than 14 hours, but 83-year-old Ozark resident Marion Casey had a spring in his step and a smile on his face Saturday night as he stepped onto the runway at Dothan Regional Airport.

Casey had just departed the plane after taking part in the Wiregrass Honor Flight, and he was greeted with a crowd of supporters that included active soldiers.
It was a night the World War II U.S. Army veteran had anticipated for quite some time.

“It was fantastic,” he said, his voice lifting with every word. “They treated us like we were kings, not soldiers. We went to Arlington National Cemetery, we went to the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, we watched the changing of the guard, we saw Iwo Jima statues, and we even put a wreath at the Alabama pillar. We had a grand time.”

Many of those on the flight never expected they’d get a chance to view those World War II memorials.

“I didn’t think I’d ever make it, but I did,” said Navy veteran Roger Spooner, whose brother served in the war as well. “He was in the Army, and I was in the Navy.
He was in Okinawa, and I didn’t know it. We pulled into Guam, and neither of us knew the other was there. He came along on the flight today, so that was good.”

Ashford native Fred Fellows, who served in the Army Air Corps, had only seen the World War II memorials on television and in books before Saturday.

“It’s different seeing it personally than seeing it on TV or anything else. It’s really impressive,” he said. “Every one of (the veterans) should go. It’s worth it.”

Even those veterans who were hesitant about the trip ended up praising the experience.

“At first I didn’t feel like going, to be truthful with you, but it was amazing,” said James Shiver, an Army veteran from Brundidge. “I was overwhelmed by emotion.
Maybe I shouldn’t say, but I started to cry. I didn’t expect all this support. I never expected anything like this in my lifetime.”

It was an experience the family members who accompanied the veterans on the flight said they will cherish for a lifetime.

Ryan Richards, for instance, accompanied his grandfather, Earl Richards, who served in the Army.

“For what this generation did for us, it was amazing for me to get to see them and the smiles on their faces,” he said. “They may never get to see that again, so it was priceless for them and priceless for me to get to enjoy it with my granddad.”

Several city and state leaders were on hand, including Dothan City Commissioner John Craig, Mayor Mike Schmitz, State Rep. Steve Clouse and State Sen. Harri Anne Smith.

"When they came home, they didn’t have a parade. This is their parade, 60 years later, and I’m proud the Wiregrass would come out to support them like this,” Schmitz said. “Some of the veterans felt they didn’t deserve this attention, but they do.”

Army vet Sam Williams of Brundidge is one of those humble veterans, but he didn’t let his humility get in the way of having a good time.

“I’m not entitled to all this stuff, but I’ve enjoyed it,” he said. “The first thing that comes to mind is the guys who really caused that monument to be here, the guys who didn’t make it back. That puts a heavy feeling in your heart. But to see the people appreciate what those people did during the war just warmed my heart back up.”
