They did, but that doesn't change the statistics: 40% of the population of the U.S. calls themselves Catholic, whether active in that church or not. Doing the math, that accounts for over 70% of those who call themselves Christian, whether they really are or not.

Their stat of 67 million americans being Catholic is actually understated by almost a 50 million. They are only counting those who are registered as members of a church - which many of them are, of course, but I personally know quite a few who aren't.

Re:"But I thought Puritans (The Protestants) built the nation that is America?"

Nobody said they didn't...

The video stated, "Catholics have been integral to the success of America." ...with the key word being, "Integral"
It also stated, "Since the beginning." Many years before the Revolution of 1776 there were many Catholics...especially in the Jamestown Colony...they were called, "Papists". There were very few Catholic priests and those that wanted to be priests had to go to France for their studies. Priests of that time usually made rounds to the various settlements and Masses were sometimes weeks apart.

I believe the point of the video was to inform Catholics to vote their conscience for fear of being hypocrites. The hierarchy of the American Catholic Church has for years pushed the Socialist agenda of the Democratic Party. With the possible likelihood of Obama becoming President of the United States, this would go against the Church's stance on pro-life and thus hypocritical of Church Doctrine.

The leadership of the American Catholic Church has gone awry of the teachings of Pope Leo XXlll and the beliefs of Pope John Paul ll.

In a nutshell they are too chicken to come out and say, "Vote Republican."
