Article 1, Section 8...what 'IT' says

but woe to all women; how unfortunate, how unlucky

Some years ago while stationed in a foreign country I was told how lucky I was to be born an American.  The plight of the average citizen in that far away place was not exactly comforting...and as I witnessed similar conditions in other countries throughout my travels those lucky words echoed through the chambers of my mind. It wasn't until years later that I realized it was not only the country of birth that mattered; it was the religious mindset of the country. In America, the body politic of our Founding Fathers followed the principles of Christianity and as luck would have it, I was born a Christian.  Now, no one has control over which religious sect that awaits them at birth nor, for that matter, which country.  But how unlucky it is for those poor souls born into a repressive governing body that follow the even more repressive principles of Islam.  Men may dominate these repressive regimes, but woe to all women; how unfortunate, how unlucky...  ~ Norman E. For Afghan Women, Rape Law Offers Little Protection
by
This week, Afghan President Hamid Karzai announced the pardon of a 19-year-old Afghan woman who was imprisoned for adultery after being raped by a relative, in a case that has attracted international media coverage.

But what happened to the woman, Gulnaz, who has been in prison for two years, is not an isolated episode.

Many other women have suffered similar fates. A recent U.N. report suggests that laws to protect women in Afghanistan from rape and forced marriage are still not being enforced — with devastating results.

That much is evident at the Badem Bagh Women's prison in Kabul. It's a desperate place, made worse by the fact that many of its inmates are there for being the victims of rape and assault. Women are regularly imprisoned for refusing to marry, for running away from their husbands, and for "adultery" when they are raped.
That's what happened to Gulnaz.

"The Afghan government says I have committed a crime. That's not true. My rights have been violated yet I am being punished as a criminal. All I want now is to get out of here," she told NPR in a prison interview before her pardon was announced.

Gulnaz — like many Afghans, she goes by only one name — says her cousin's husband found her alone at home one day when her mother had taken her cousin to see a doctor. He tied her hands and raped her. She was afraid to tell anyone, but two months later her morning sickness gave her away: She was carrying the rapist's child. When she went to the police they arrested the rapist, but they also arrested Gulnaz for adultery.
Gulnaz's baby girl, now 9 months old, was born on the floor of the prison. Story continues here

Weather Forecast...but don't you believe it (consider the source)

Something unique about the Internet is that it offers the readers of contemporary news sources the opportunity to see the other side of the news...I would venture to say, "the truthful side of the news".  Altogether too many (I would venture to say, "most") news sources otherwise know as, 'the main stream media"(MSM) have drifted to the far left (I would venture to say, "anti-American") with an agenda that, if successful, would mean the end of America as we know it.  These agenda driven ideologues cover many factions but all are designed to re-educate the populace.  One such re-education faction that has been around for as long as I can remember is, climate change...I would venture to say, 'scare mongering' (my first big scare was back during the Truman Administration when we were told the sun was going to explode).  Meanwhile, one of the dominant MSM propaganda outlets is the New York Times...sometimes they try to pass off opinion as factual news assuming the reader will believe their reticent lies.  Just think how ignorant we would be without the Internet exposing the nincompoops that want to control our every thought.  I would venture to say (that), "Don Surber (see below) has exposed Andrew Revkin as the nincompoop over at the New York Times who is attempting scare us with more bad weather news." ~ Norman E. You’re no reporter, Andrew Rivkin Revkin  (sorry 'bout that)
November 30, 2011 by Don Surber
Andrew Rivkin of the New York Times runs its Dot Earth blog, which advocates the latest in expanding government control of industry and restricting our freedoms in the name of saving the planet. Obviously, I have no problem with newspaper opinion bloggers, as that is what I do here. My problem with Mister Rivkin is that he continues to cast himself as a reporter. That is a disgraceful and misleading position. Being an objective reporter is the most difficult job at a newspaper, and he gave that up years ago.
Andrew Rivkin lacked any objectivity in his coverage of Climategate in 2009 — and again in 2011 with the recent release of a second batch of e-mails that show corroboration among climatologists, the press that is supposed to cover them and the bureaucrats who pass out climatology grants.
I offer as evidence this post that began on November 20, 2009, “Private* Climate Conversations on Display“:
A thick file of private emails and unpublished documents generated by an array of climate scientists over 13 years was obtained by a hacker from a British university climate research center and has since spread widely across the Internet starting Thursday afternoon. Before they propagated, the purloined documents, nearly 200 megabytes in all, were uploaded surreptitiously on Tuesday to a server supporting the global warming Web site realclimate.org, along with a draft mock post, said Gavin Schmidt, a NASA climate scientist managing that blog. He pulled the plug before the fake post was published.
I have a story in The Times on the incident and its repercussions, which continue to unfold. But there’s much more to explore, of course (including several references to me). The documents appear to have been acquired illegally and contain all manner of private information and statements that were never intended for the public eye, so they won’t be posted here. But a quick sift of skeptics’ Web sites will point anyone to plenty of sources.
The blogging continued with updates on that post both before the original post and aft. Critics quickly scored him for focusing on “private* climate conversation” (I have no idea what that asterisk is supposed to mean; no explanation was offered at the post) rather than the revelations that climatologists were conspiring to “hide the decline” in global temperatures.
His post went on: “I have a story in The Times on the incident and its repercussions, which continue to unfold. But there’s much more to explore, of course (including several references to me). The documents appear to have been acquired illegally and contain all manner of private information and statements that were never intended for the public eye, so they won’t be posted here. But a quick sift of skeptics’ Web sites will point anyone to plenty of sources.”
Illegally obtained? These climatologists were breaking the law by avoiding British freedom-of-information laws. Science is supposed to be open and honest. The New York Times has had no problem with divulging the contents of Wikileaks information that embarrasses the State Department — indeed its own exposure of perfectly legal and constitutional yet covert tracing of terrorist money may have damaged our war efforts. But Andrew Rivkin assumed the role of lead reporter on the Climategate coverage for the New York Times and diverted the coverage away from the real scandal on this sidetrack of who published the e-mails.
This time around, Andrew Rivkin tried to meet criticism head on, posting this on Tuesday — November 29, 2011: “Since Nov. 19, 2009, when someone unknown distributed a large batch of climate-related e-mail messages extracted from servers at the University of East Anglia, and now again with a newly released cache, I’ve noted that I appear repeatedly in the exchanges, both as a message author and subject. Here’s the search result for my name.As a reporter covering climate science and policy in depth since 1988, I’d be ashamed if my name had not been in these documents. That would imply I wasn’t doing my job.”
Baloney.
Andrew Rivkin is not a reporter. He is an advocate. His blog is connected with the opinion side of the New York Times, not the news side.
He should cease and desist from impersonating a reporter. Their jobs are hard enough without us hack pundits trying to glom on to the good reputations of objective journalists in a mad and stealth attempt to peddle our opinions as news.
Real reporters are part of the process to hold accountable mad scientists who handle hundreds of thousands — if not millions — of public dollars in research grants. Andrew Rivkin is their PR man. This is a con game and one of the first to be conned were reporters like Andrew Rivkin who were converted into flacks, who are the first line of protection from legitimate inquiry into the methodology and data collection used by climatologists.
Another one is Charles Hadley, who covered global warming for the Associated Press until he retired — and came out of the closet as an advocate of climatology. Surprise, surprise. Advocates of this nonsense are not reporters. They are climatology’s Dickie Dunns.

Obama & family lose vacation spot

The following from: Cape Cod Today
Obama bounced from Vineyard house
The ladies of the Inside Track are reporting in the Boston Herald that the first family will be on the hunt for a new vacation rental next summer. The Obamas have spent their last three summer vacations at the Blue Heron Farm in West Tisbury.
But this summer, their $50,000 a week vacation spot is not an option. Put on the market in September for $23.7 million, and recently sold, the 28.5-acre Blue Heron property will not be available for summer tenants.

More from the Boston Herald
Looks like President Obama will be looking for new accommodations this summer if he decides to make a return trip to Martha’s Vineyard.
Blue Heron Farm, the $22 million, posh, private estate where the First Family has done the fun-in-the-sun thing for the past three Augusts, has been sold. And word from The Rock is that the new owners don’t plan to lease their new summer playground to tenants — presidential or otherwise.
Listing broker Tom Wallace declined to identify the new owners of the West Tisbury retreat but told Patch.com that the “lovely family” is “unlikely (to) want to rent.”
As you might imagine, before Obama’s first vacation, the taxpayers ponied up to retrofit the house with all the security and communications equipment...

Anti-American Governor of Rhode Island Lincoln Chafee advocates UN's no religion agenda

Rhode Island Outraged Over “Holiday Tree”
By Todd Starnes

A Rhode Island lawmaker is calling Gov. Lincoln Chafee “Governor Grinch” after he defied lawmakers and decided that the state would have a “holiday tree” instead of a “Christmas tree.”  Read full story here

Freedom from Religion | Proposed UN Resolution / Charter Amendment | Version 1.1

WE THE PEOPLES OF THE UNITED NATIONS HEREBY VOW
* to save succeeding generations from the scourge of organized religion, a folly which has brought untold sorrow to mankind through the division, hatred and conflict it engenders, and
* to reaffirm an individual's right to freedom of belief, freedom of conscience and freedom of prayer, and
* to establish conditions under which these freedoms can be privately exercised.
AND FOR THESE ENDS WE UNDERTAKE
1. To outlaw, with immediate effect, the public expression of religious beliefs, including the use of symbols, clothing or markings which are synonymous with any currently or previously existing religions.
2. To outlaw, with immediate effect, public acts of worship or religious declaration.
3. To outlaw, with immediate effect, private gatherings of three or more people for the purposes of engaging in acts of worship or religious services.
4. To outlaw, with immediate effect, the publication of books, literature or articles which seek to promote religious beliefs or encourage adherence to religious doctrine.
5. To outlaw, after a period of amnesty, the personal ownership of books or materials which seek to promote religious beliefs or encourage adherence to religious doctrine. (Books of academic or social interest will be made freely available to schools, universities and public libraries).
6. To outlaw, with immediate effect, the celebration of religiously significant dates.
7. To begin, with immediate effect, the destruction or reassignment of predominantly religious buildings, such as churches, mosques and temples.

Note: The above information obviously wants to do away with all religions with one exception, Islam!
The resolution is being proposed by Antony Last, founder of formulism.org, a site which claims that freedom FROM religion would be of far greater benefit to mankind than freedom OF religion. And yet when you go to formulism.org you get links to Islam and Urdu

Where do Obama voters come from?

Congresswoman Carolyn Maloney...welcome to the club

The following from: American Thinker

Rep. Maloney Lies about Fast and Furious
By M. Catharine Evans

Shilling for Dems desperate to pass off the hot potato known as Fast and Furious to the nearest Republican, Congresswoman Maloney (D-NY) wrote an op-ed piece for the New York Daily News last week entitled "Fast and Furious 'scandal' is a Republican red herring: What we really need are tougher gun laws."

Maloney followed the DOJ playbook on Fast and Furious. Terms like "gotcha games," "ill-conceived operation," "political fodder," "political sideshow," "witch hunts," and "lax gun laws" are everywhere. But that's not the worst of it. The facts don't fit her agenda, so what does she do? The congresswoman piles lies on top of the propaganda.
If not for the unspeakable grief of the Terry and Zapata families, as well as thousands of Mexican citizens, Maloney's rant wouldn't merit a response. But people died, and their loved ones deserve better.

Lie: The "Fast and Furious Scandal is a Republican Red Herring."

Truth: The guns retrieved at the scene of Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry's murder were real; they were later traced to the gun-walking operation. Senator Grassley and Congressman Issa did not manufacture a crisis, and the only "red" involved is the blood of the victims.

Lie: "Holder is being blamed for a program that is not his creation."

Truth: Fast and Furious was initiated under Holder's watch in the fall of 2009. The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms falls under the Department of Justice, therefore he "owns" it.
Lie: "But this initiative, which was identical to one launched under the Bush administration, spiraled out of control, with ATF agents losing track of the guns as soon as they crossed the border."

Truth: The experienced ATF agents deposed by Issa's House subcommittee said they were ordered by higher-ups not to intercept guns "being essentially just bee lined to the drug trafficking organizations" -- a practice one seasoned 21-year veteran agent called "inconceivable ... never, ever in my wildest dreams would I have thought this was a technique ... You don't lose guns ... you don't let guns out of your sight."

Operation Wide Receiver involved approximately 450 guns, not thousands; there was a serious attempt to track the weapons; no one was killed; and Mexican authorities were told about gun-trafficking suspects. By all accounts, the program was shut down in 2007 after some weapons went missing.

By contrast, Operation Fast and Furious kept ATF agents stationed in Mexico as well as Mexican officials out of the loop; guns were allowed to walk without interdiction; and despite agents' vocal protestations of "outrage and disgust" about the deadly program, Fast and Furious continued until Brian Terry's murder. Those in charge at the ATF Phoenix field division "ignored their concerns" and told the agents "to get with the program" because senior ATF officials like Special Agent in Charge William Newell had "sanctioned the program." Hardly "identical."

Lie: "Americans who are outraged at Terry's death rightly want to know whether it has been scrapped and whether Attorney General Eric Holder who oversees ATF, is aggressively investigating Fast and Furious. I can report that the answer to both of those questions is a resounding yes."

Truth: Holder has stonewalled the investigation at every turn, and he perjured himself on May 3 at a House Judiciary hearing. Both he and President Obama have denied any knowledge of or involvement in the operation. When faced with questions from the media, each defers to the ongoing investigation by the DOJ's inspector general, who, coincidentally, worked under Holder as assistant attorney general in D.C. from 1994 to 1997. This faux oversight amounts to Holder investigating himself.

Lie: "But for Republican congressional leaders, one botched operation is not enough to serve their political goals. They need a scandal -- and are desperate to create one."

Truth: The word "botched" might be applicable if the operation out of the Phoenix division of the ATF had been stopped as soon as Agents like John Dodson and Olindo Casa related their fears about the deadly program to superiors. Agent Dodson reported the general feeling among those in charge was that "if you're going to make an omelet, you need to scramble some eggs."

Agents testified they were essentially told to "stand down" when requesting permission to interdict guns -- that "all of this was sanctioned" and was an "acceptable practice." At one point, an agent confirmed for the questioner that Phoenix supervisor David Voth regarded the increasing violence (958 killed in March 2010 according to one e-mail) as proof that they were on the right track. According to a June 14, 2011 staff report prepared for Issa and Grassley, "the agents within Group VII described Voth's reaction to all this gun violence in Mexico as 'giddy'" (36).

The chilling accounts of Phoenix Group VII special agents, who were repeatedly ordered not to intervene when they witnessed suspected straw purchases buying "enormous quantities of assault rifles," made this a full-blown scandal from the beginning.

Lie: "According to recent media reports, another Bush-era AG, Michael Mukasey, received a detailed Fast and Furious briefing in 2007. But only Holder took decisive action in response to these dangerous tactics."

Truth: Here is the memo and supporting documents from 2007. Congresswoman Maloney's deliberate use of "Fast and Furious" in the same sentence as the year 2007 suggests that specific program began before the 2008 election. It did not.
Furthermore, Holder has not taken decisive action. If former AG Mukasey was briefed on ATF's Project Gunrunner two months after taking office, as the memo indicates, Holder's persistent denial that he knew anything about Fast and Furious until April of 2011, more than two years after he took over, can mean only that he's lying or seriously unhinged. To date, no one has been held criminally accountable for giving orders to "stand down" while mass murder took place.

Lie: "Given the ongoing violence on our border and the glaring loopholes in our gun trafficking laws, it's time for Congress to drop its witch hunts and get serious. We cannot continue allowing weapons to end up in the wrong hands."

Truth: I doubt that the Terry or Zapata families would consider Congress' efforts to thoroughly investigate the murders of their loved ones a "witch hunt."
Congress happens to be dead serious. For some unknown reason, those "glaring loopholes" became craters on Holder's watch. The distinct feature of Fast and Furious that sets it apart from previous operations "is that absolutely no effort to track the guns was ever in place."
So far, big media has gone along with the "lax gun laws" and "Bush started it" defense. But Americans are growing tired of the lies -- to say nothing of representatives like Maloney who spew them and an administration who continues to blame a former president while ratcheting up its own so-called failed programs.

British politician and the leader of the UK Independence Party (UKIP) Nigel Farage has slammed EU bosses over European crisis. "It's even more serious than economics because if you rob people of their identity, if you rob them of their democracy, then all they are left with is nationalism and violence. I can only hope and pray that the Euro project is destroyed by the markets before that" - Farage said at the end of his speech.

Deadly Man-Made Flu Virus Has Potential To Wipe Out Millions

The following from: Daily Mail

'Anthrax isn't scary at all compared to this': Man-made flu virus with potential to wipe out many millions if it ever escaped is created in research lab

  • Scientist responsible is bracing himself for a media storm
  • Just five tweaks to H5N1 makes it more contagious
  • Contagious version of bird flu could cause pandemic
  • Scientists divided over whether findings can be released
A group of scientists is pushing to publish research about how they created a man-made flu virus that could potentially wipe out civilisation.

The deadly virus is a genetically tweaked version of the H5N1 bird flu strain, but is far more infectious and could pass easily between millions of people at a time.

The research has caused a storm of controversy and divided scientists, with some saying it should never have been carried out.
Deadly: The new strain of bird flu could wipe out millions of people at a time
The current strain of H5N1 has only killed 500 people and is not contagious enough to cause a global pandemic.

But their are fears the modified virus is so dangerous it could be used for bio-warfare, if it falls into the wrong hands.

Virologist Ron Fouchier of the Erasmus Medical Centre in the Netherlands lead a team of scientists who discovered that a mere five mutations to the avian virus was sufficient to make it spread far more easily.

He conducted his tests on ferrets as the animals have become a model of choice for influenza and have similar respiratory tracts to humans.

Fouchier is so prepared for a media storm that he has hired an advisor to help him work on a communication strategy.
The research done was part of an international drive to understand H5N1 more fully.

Fouchier admitted the strain is 'one of the most dangerous viruses you can make' but is still adamant he wants to publish a paper describing how it was done.

The study is one of two which has caused serious debate about scientific freedom and about regulating research which might have potential public health benefits but at the same time could also be useful for bio-terrorism.
The other paper, also on H5N1, was done by a joint team at the University of Wisconsin and the University of Tokyo.
It is understood to have had comparable results to the study done by Fouchier.
Dangerous: It is feared if new details of the avian flu is published, it could be used for bioterrorism

Both papers are now being reviewed by the U.S National Science Advisory Board for Biosecurity (NSABB).

NSABB does not have the power to prevent the publication but it could ask journals not to publish.

Paul Keim, chairman of NSABB, said: 'I can't think of another pathogenic organism that is as scary as this one. I don't think anthrax is scary at all compared to this.'

Traditionally scientific research has always been open so that fellow scientists can review the work of others and repeat their methods to try and learn from them.

But numerous scientists have said they believe research on the avian flu should be suppressed.

However, biodefense and flu expert Michael Osterholm, who is director of the Center for Infectious Disease Research and Policy at the University of Minnesota, said the work carried out was important medically.
He added he could not discuss the papers because he was a member of NSABB but said if they were published certain information could be withheld and made available to those who really need to know.

'We don't want to give bad guys a road map on how to make bad bugs really bad,' he said.
