Niki Tsongas Town Hall Meeting – First Hand Account

Special thanks to Ted Tripp for giving me permission to use this first-hand account of the recently concluded Town Hall meeting led by congresswoman Tsongas. From his account, she acquitted herself well; she is not apt to change her support for national health care deform however. Will post the pics later; sorry I have been very busy and posting has been difficult. Things will improve on this site shortly however. (P.S.see pics below.)

Last Saturday I attended a town hall forum on healthcare set up by
Congresswoman Niki Tsongas. There were about 400 people inside the hall
and another 600 or so outside who couldn’t get in.
The police allowed signs inside and I would say the split of those
attending was 3-1 against ObamaCare. When Tsongas entered the room, she
announced that she would take questions from the microphone about 10 feet
in front of her. There was a mad scramble to form a line and if you didn’t
have an aisle seat, you didn’t get a place in line.
The crowd was raucous and unruly, drowning out Tsongas when it wasn’t
satisfied with the answers. It was close to an angry mob telling her we
didn’t want government taking over our healthcare system. Those who made
statements against ObamaCare got huge applause from the audience; those
who spoke in favor got jeers and boos. I was surprised at the anger and
ferocity of the comments, considering that this is Massachusetts.
Three questioners stood out. One woman asked Tsongas: If this is such a
great healthcare plan, why did you opt out of it? The questioner got a
standing ovation from the audience that went on for awhile. Tsongas dodged
the answer in a long, drawn out diatribe. A second questioner said he was
a former Marine (big applause from the audience) and was 66 years old. He
said he was in good health and had rarely used his health insurance over
the years. Then he said he was worried that 10 years from now he might
come down with a brain tumor. He wanted to know if ObamaCare would pay the
$500,000 for his operation such as the one Ted Kennedy just had? He added
that he felt he had a lot of productive years left and he didn’t want some
government agent telling him he couldn’t have the operation. He also got a
standing ovation. The third questioner just basically told Tsongas: Why
don’t you just go back to Washington and first fix Social Security,
Medicaid and Medicare, and then maybe we will trust you to talk to us
about healthcare.
The meeting was surreal at times. Tsongas handled the attacks quite well,
but her aides looked very uncomfortable. Her chief aide turned red in the
face, as his blood pressure must have gone up by 20 points.
One of the detail cops who was older said he hadn’t seen anything like
this since the 1960s.
One of the better signs was “ObamaCare – It’s To Die For.”
Tsongas got the message, but we must keep up the heat. For more

A racially charged activist group called “Color of Change” founded by Van Jones, a special advisor to the Obama Administration, is trying to silence popular radio and Fox News personality Glenn Beck by calling for a boycott of Beck’s TV advertisers.

On July 28th, Beck made a comment on the Fox & Friends morning show about Obama’s reaction to the arrest of Dr. Henry Louis Gates Jr. During the discussion of “Professor-Gate,” Beck connected the President’s past association with Rev. Jeremiah Wright to Obama’s comment that Cambridge police officer, Sgt. James Crowley, acted stupidly. Though Beck acknowledged most of the Obama administration is in fact white, he concluded that the President’s world experience made him a “racist.”

Now “Color of Change” has bullied at least five of Beck’s big advertisers -- SC Johnson, Progressive Insurance, Geico, Procter & Gamble and Nexus Lexis -- to pull their ads from Beck’s national cable program. Jones, the founder of “Color of Change,” was named Special Advisor for Green Jobs at the White House Council on Environmental Quality -- a key administrative post -- this past March.

But but but it was Obama who made the racist remark about Crowley. So let's boycott BHO and all of his legislation.

Seriously, folks, put your money where your mouth is. The left may have the media mouthpiece, but we have the masses. Do not forget that.

Atlas reader Richard wrote to GEICO about their pulling their ads from the Glenn Beck show. Their pathetic excuse, "little benefit to us if a program gets so much attention that our message is drowned out". They will advertise on vile TV shows and such but real news offends them. Their unpatriotic stand against free speech shoudl offend YOU, please your business today.

You may have heard the story of Rifqa Bary, the 17 year-old girl who fled her Muslim home in Ohio out of fear that her father would kill her for becoming a Christian.

Rifqa is now in the custody of Florida state authorities who are investigating the allegation. Not surprisingly, the father denies that he wants to kill his daughter. Is he telling the truth? Or is he practicing “taqiyya,” the Islamic doctrine of deception? How will state authorities know for sure?

The pastor who Rifqa sought out is convinced Rifqa is telling the truth. So is the attorney who is representing Rifqa. Rifqa is clearly very, very frightened.

Over the past two years we have seen at least three different “honor killings” perpetrated in either Canada or the United States. The most recent was this past February, when the founder of a Muslim outreach television network beheaded his wife, who was seeking a divorce from him.

Violence against women and against those who convert from Islam is not uncommon in most Muslim countries. For instance, in 2008 the Iranian Parliament voted overwhelmingly to institute the death penalty against those who convert from Islam.

According to a 1999 Amnesty International report, as many as 90% of Pakistani women are subjected to violent treatment by men.

This is the fruit of Islamic shariah law, in which women are treated as the property of men and “apostates” from the faith can be put to death.

And this “fruit” is becoming more and more commonplace in America. Unfortunately Rifqa’s story will likely not be the last.

What is REALLY in the Current Healthcare Bill

Friends,

As you know, President Obama has been pushing his "Universal healthcare" plan. There have been a lot of people saying many different things about this new healthcare plan. Therefore, I felt the need to do what our congressmen and women have not done and read all of the healthcare plans out there. Let me tell you, as you can imagine, it was not easy reading. I wanted to be able to give you the ammunition (facts) to reply to those that want to know why we oppose the plan.

First, let me state that I do believe that we need to make sure that every LEGAL American citizen has access to the best healthcare system in the world and that it is affordable for everyone. Let me also state that, after reading the bills that are being considered, if the healthcare plan was a good plan, I would let you know that. That being said, the proposals set forth in the house and in the senate are very bad for America for the following reasons:

We simply can not afford it. The Congressional Budget Office states that even with higher taxes on high income earners and penalties on employers who don't provide coverage, the plan will fall $239 billion short of covering its' cost of over $1 trillion. That is their best case scenario without the bill being completely scored.
It will not cover everyone. The Congressional Budget Office estimates that over 17 million people would remain uninsured AFTER this plan is implemented.
You will not be able to shop for or obtain private insurance if you do not have private insurance prior to the bill being passed. This is somewhat clearly stated on pgs. 16 and 17 in section 102(a)(1)(A).
After a 5 year grace period, all private insurers that are still in business will be required to offer a "qualified health benefits" plan based on government standards. The problem is whether or not the "government standards" will exclude private insurers. This on page 17, section 102(b)(1)(A).
No new policies will be allowed to be written by a private insurer after the public option becomes law. Also page 17.
Every five years, the elderly will have to attend a mandatory "advanced care planning consultation" for an "explanation by the practitioner of the continuum of end of life services." The consultation will be conducted more frequently if a significant change in health condition.including diagnosis of a chronic, progressive, life limiting disease, terminal diagnosis, life threatening injury or upon admission to a skilled nursing or long term care facility. In other words, if you are old, you will be consulted about what your options will be if you get sick, if healthcare would not be an option (see #7). This starts on page 425.
Page 501 of the bill starts a section that indicates that $1 billion will be spent on "comparative effectiveness research" which is how the government evaluates relative merits of various treatments. In other words, rationing. This is tantamount to the government determining whether or not you are worth getting a particular treatment depending on your prognosis or age.
This plan would allow for government funded abortions. Since this bill would cover all procedures, abortion is included. There is no exception for abortion.
Members of congress and unions would be exempt from this plan and not have to be a part of the healthcare plan. Recently, John Fleming, introduced H.R. 615 that stated that members that vote in favor of a government run healthcare must enroll under the public option. No democrat would sign on. If it is not good enough for congress, it is not good enough for us! This is section 3116.
$500 billion will be cut from senior healthcare to help pay for this bill. This will weaken Medicare, an organization already in trouble due to insufficient funds.
Hospitals and private healthcare facilities will not be able to collect money from the government plan unless they are "public" facilities.
Businesses will be fined over 8% of an employee's salary if they do not provide healthcare insurance for their employees.
Individuals that do not have health insurance will be fined an amount that will encourage them to purchase the government plan.
All "people", legal or not, will be covered under this plan and identification cards will be issued. These identification cards will not be based on social security numbers.

These are some of the proven reasons why I could never support a bill like this. These are irrefutable facts, things that our present government does not want our citizens to be aware of, which is why they are trying to pass this bill as quickly as possible. The more we find out about the bill, the worse it gets. As I stated above, we need to reform our healthcare system, but this is not the way. In this case, doing nothing is better than passing this bill. It will hurt seniors, businesses and families.

Congressman Wexler is one of the biggest supporters of this bill as well as, even worse, HR 676. Why should he care about our businesses, our seniors or our children in District 19 and Florida, he doesn't even live here. Please consider helping us defeat this bill and Robert Wexler by contributing to our campaign. It is only through your support and encouragement that we will be able to elect officials who will do what is best for us, finally.

Alarmist language sparking fears of mandatory vaccinations, quarantines

Avian flu viruses like this one have raised worries in the past similar to those being raised by this year's swine flu

Alarmist language over possible outbreaks of swine flu as well as a series of moves by the federal government are fueling fears federal agents will soon be forcing citizens to be vaccinated – prompting one political party to launch a pre-emptive defense against any such effort.

The Constitution Party, a fast-growing alternative to the dominant Democratic and Republican parties in many elections, has come out strongly in opposition to any "mandatory injections" of "potential toxic (H1N1) 'swine flu' vaccine."

Citing the Fourth Amendment, which says, "The right of the people to be secure in their persons … shall not be violated," Constitution Party National Committee Chairman Jim Clymer said the issue isn't that complex.

"It comes down to the most fundamental of all freedoms. If government can force potentially dangerous substances into our bodies what, then, can't government do to us?" he said.

"Whether mandated by the federal government, the individual states such as Massachusetts or international organizations like the World Health Organization or the United Nations, forcing potentially dangerous chemicals on a free people is tyranny," Clymer said.

The Constitution Party cited the research of Bill Sardi, who noted the "cozy relationship" where the WHO "prematurely" declares a pandemic, forcing dozens of governments to buy flu vaccines. Then, he wrote, public health authorities invoke mandatory vaccination programs for children.

The enriched vaccine makers then "funnel profits back to the politicians."

The party noted the alarmist behavior on the part of the U.S. Departments of Health and Homeland Security, which earlier this year when "several people" were "diagnosed" with swine flu, declared a national public health emergency.

When that was declared in April, schools were closed, people quarantined and pharmaceutical companies awarded billion dollar contracts, the party explained.

Condemnation also has come from Rep. Ron Paul, R-Texas, who cited the swine flu vaccination program in 1976. The effort killed more than two dozen people – not from the flu but from the vaccine.

Paul said he was concerned that "nearly $8 billion will be spent to address a 'potential pandemic flu' which could result in mandatory vaccinations for no discernable reason other than to enrich the pharmaceutical companies that make the vaccine."

Clymer also expressed concern about turning over decisions inside the United States to an international organization like the WHO. Adding other pieces to the puzzle, such as the Pentagon's involvement with the Federal Emergency Management Agency, just adds to his worries, he said.

According to a Fox report, the Pentagon is planning to make available military troops – if they are needed – to help FEMA respond to a flu outbreak.

The report said Defense Secretary Robert Gates is preparing to sign an order letting the military set up regional teams to help FEMA.

"Americans should be gravely concerned when all the pieces are put together," Clymer said. "We have a strain of flu which has produced mild symptoms so far, and yet it appears there's a well-orchestrated world-wide effort to put draconian measures in place for a 'pandemic.'"

Clymer also cited the WHO recommendations that would provide, essentially, for an indefinite stay in a quarantine camp for those who refuse a vaccination. He said the procedures that follow a "Level 6 Pandemic" allow international precedent to override U.S. constitutional guarantees of freedom.

The party statement said, "All liberty-loving Americans should shudder at the WHO directives which state: 'During a pandemic, it may be necessary to overrule existing legislation or (individual) human rights. Examples are the enforcement of quarantine (overruling individual freedom of movement), use of privately owned buildings for hospitals, off-license use of drugs, compulsory vaccination or implementation of emergency shifts in essential services."

No such extraordinary efforts are needed, the Constitution Party said, because according to the Centers for Disease Control, "the fear mongering regarding this flu is not warranted by forensic evidence that H1N1 is the potentially devastating plague the hyperbole purports it to be."

According to the Fox report, the bird flu frenzy during 2005 prompted the Bush administration to add influenza to the government's list of diseases for which quarantines are allowed, creating a path through which people who exhibit symptoms could be detained by government order.

Governors, however, according to a report from The Hill, are objecting to the potential involvement of the feds.

Gov. Jim Douglas, R-Vermont, head of the National Governors Association, and Vice Chairman Gov. Joe Manchin, D-W.Va., wrote, "We are concerned that the legislative proposal … would invite confusion on critical command and control issues, complicate interagency planning, establish stove-piped response efforts, and interfere with governors’ constitutional responsibilities to ensure the safety and security of their citizens," Douglas and Manchin wrote to Paul Stockton, assistant secretary of Defense for Homeland Defense and America's Security Affairs.

And the Fox report said even a spokesman for the Defense Department acknowledged the concerns "about civil liberties and the use of force."

Attorney Robert L. Shannon told the network the military generally isn't allowed to intervene in peoples' lives, "But it's important to remember that the president has the option and authority to use federal troops in a national emergency."

An ACLU spokesman told Fox that the idea of forced vaccinations or detentions would raise constitutional questions, and Michel Chossudovsky, writing on the Global Research website, said the implications are "far-reaching."

"The decision points toward the establishment of a police state," he said.

At Natural News.com, a warning was issued that more and more incidents are being reported involving forced vaccinations in the United States – usually through workplace or school demands.

"Attorney Alan Phillips, author of Dispelling Vaccination Myths, … got interested in the subject when he noticed the warning on a vaccination that was about to be administered to his infant child. The warning clearly stated that the odds of death from the vaccination were considerably higher than death from the diseases it was supposed to immunize," the report said.

The site even promotes a petition to halt forced vaccinations.

As the flu season approaches, a conference also has been scheduled to allow leaders of government and industry to consult on the potential problem.

The event in the past has been used to discuss various strains of bird flu, but this year is being called the International Swine Flue Conference. It's Aug. 19-20 at the Hyatt Regency Washington on Capitol Hill.

Among the topics to be considered are: "Unwillingness to follow government orders," "Control & diffuse social unrest & public disorder," "Protect police forces from falling ill & from being hurt in civil disturbances," and "Manage a surge in crime & meet routine requests at the same time."

The international flu conference, promoted by New-Fields.com, is being assembled for "top leaders and decision-makers" from a broad range of industries as well as "scientists, public health officials, law enforcers, first responders, and other experts."

The promotional brochure lists topics:

Mass fatality management planning
Country report and situations update
Surveillance and data management
Command, control and management, and others.

Meanwhile, the Associated Press is reporting that Americans in eight cities are preparing to take a swine flu vaccine that still is in the testing stages, in manufacturers' hopes that the vaccine will be on the market soon

SCOTS SNIPER KILLS TALIBAN LEADER WITH LONGEST SHOT

A SCOTTISH soldier has been praised for making the longest recorded kill in Afghanistan after shooting a top Taliban fighter from almost a mile away.

Corporal Christopher Reynolds took out the Afghan drug lord during some of the hardest fighting of the war so far.

The 25-year-old, of 3 Scots, The Black Watch, kept watch on a shop rooftop for three days to eliminate the target.

But he admitted the top-level Taliban fighter – known as Musa – was so far away it took him a couple of attempts to get the aim right.

Initially Musa, who was with four men, did not even realise he was being shot at.

But Cpl Reynolds, of Dalgety Bay, in Fife, together with his spotter Lance Corporal David Hatton, worked out different factors such as wind speed and the trajectory of the bullet to hit the target. Musa, who was more than 1,500 metres away, was taken out with a single shot to the chest.

Cpl Reynolds, who has killed 32 Taliban fighters, said: “I was quite proud of that shot. It is the longest recorded kill in Afghanistan. I am going to use that fact as a chat-up line in the pub when I get back home.”

His 20-year-old spotter, from Castlemilk, in Glasgow, added: “We had been in position for three days when he made that shot. He did a top job that day.”

Another Scot in the same unit eliminated a sniper by using a precision missile launcher which costs £70,000 to fire.

Sergeant Daniel Buist, of Arbroath, Angus, hit the insurgent hiding in a two-feet wide “murder hole” dug out of a wall.

The 34-year-old fired his Javelin launcher – only used in the “most desperate of situations” – to take out the sniper after seeing him shoot patrols.

Incredibly, his aim was so accurate he hit the enemy fighter without damaging the compound wall.

“It was later confirmed that I had actually hit someone, as there were fresh blood trails.

“The remains had been dragged away by other Taliban. It can be gruesome, but I had to stop that guy from taking out my men.”

I just returned to America from Europe where I led an incredible delegation to meet with European leaders in an effort to see a glimpse into a possible future for America by viewing the end results of years of failed liberal policies on European nations. Let these experiences and facts serve as the warning to what will be the result if we blindly continue on a path of destruction sewn by politicians who believe socialism, appeasement, and other leftist policies will benefit America in any way.

The trip started in Paris, the beautiful vacation land of good food, fine wine, arts, and European culture, or so I thought. Our tour guide in this city was the brilliant scholar Nidra Poller, whose insights and knowledge on French society shed light on everything we saw. She explained the social climate, the attitude of the government, and the current tensions and growing antisemitism that exists in the city. On the first day of our trip, local news reported that another synagogue was firebombed, a 4th that week, and a man had just been stabbed for wearing a Star of David by the notorious “disenfranchised youths” as the media calls them. Two days prior, there was a “peace” rally which resulted in the burning of dozens of cars, again by those pesky “youths” who for some reason yell “Allah Akbar” while rioting. We did an in studio interview on French radio where I bluntly explained to them that their problems were brought on by their leftist politicians who feel the need to push socialist and other leftist policies which have enabled all this to occur. Unfortunately these policies of open borders, refugee resettlement, welfare, and others, are exactly the same policies that the liberals in congress and the state assembly are constantly pushing here in America.

We met with an underground group of conservatives in Paris. It saddened me to see that the conservative movement was truly underground there, for fear of reprisals from employers or angry leftists. We met in a secure and private location with a half dozen or so various activists, in the hopes to encourage them to begin a grassroots movement, virtually non-existent in Europe. It was truly inspiring to meet with a young man who is the founder of a group called French Friends of the Republican Party, who sees what is going on around him and is willing to make a stand. We also met with the few conservative city leaders around Paris including Philippe Karsenty, the Deputy Mayor of the suburb of Neuilly. Philippe told us of a lawsuit he has been engaged in regarding the propagation of misinformation on both French and mid-east media. The most troubling item we learned when speaking with local leaders and law enforcement is the existence of no-go zones around Paris and around other European cities. They are Islamic neighborhoods where police absolutely refuse to enter, and where if you are not a Muslim and you are caught driving through it you will have bricks thrown at your car and may not make it out alive. One of the conservative activists we met up with by the name of David described a time when there was a new Chief of Police who decided he wanted to crack down on the no-go zones and send his police in, against the wishes of many other authorities. When the police entered one of the large 15 story commie-block style apartment buildings, someone pushed a refrigerator off the roof onto one of the squad cars. They don't go in there any more. These Islamic ghettos were brought on and paid for by social welfare programs, and the immigrants were welcomed with open arms in the name of

diversity and multiculturalism. Yet unlike the immigrants of the past, assimilation has been lacking to say the least. An unnamed source gave us an example of the local police climate; although the police want to fight, they are greatly restricted. He explained that during a recent protest, someone began shooting at the police with a handgun, the officer in charge gave the order to his men not to return fire, and was given an award by the government for his restraint. That is the climate of liberalism.

Tom Trento, of the Florida Security Council, and I went to a Hamas and Hezbollah rally near the Musée du Louvre, home of the Mona Lisa, to film and report. The sheer numbers were astounding, at a conservative estimate there were 15,000 screaming jihadis waving Hezbollah and Hamas flags. The crowd grew and grew, and when they hit the opera plaza the police blocked them from continuing to the Israeli Consulate. The infuriated crowd began to torch Israeli and American flags, and as the tensions grew and we saw police begin to lock and load their tear gas, we knew it was time to leave. That evening we found out that a McDonalds was attacked [See important update here] that we had ate at only a half hour before the rally, and all the windows broken. However, from press reports you would never know any of this occurred. Our Paris contact Nidra Poller told us a few days later that there was barely a peep in the French news about it, if anything at all. The only information we could find on the event was a flat out lie in an AP news wire saying that the crowds were estimated at 2,600. This manipulation of the facts, and the control of the mainstream media is incredible, but is exactly what the liberals are attempting to do, and have largely succeeded in bringing to the media in the United States.

While I had expected dope smoking hippies and bums everywhere in Amsterdam, there really was not even a 10th as many as one would find in San Francisco. Instead, as opposed to Paris which was a dreary town where everyone wears black, I found there were bright colors, lively people riding bicycles everywhere, and a growing climate of people who are fed up with what is going on around them. Aside from the conservative politicians we met with, when stopping people on the street to discuss the issues we found that a sizable and growing minority of people are beginning to realize that the leftist governmental policies that got them into this mess are killing them and their way of life. When you set foot in that city it becomes painfully clear that the younger generation is not Dutch, but is a majority Islamic. The prostitutes in windows in the red light district, and marijuana shops throughout the city are evidence of the self indulging liberal climate that brought about such a situation. Oddly enough cigarettes are illegal to smoke in or near any building, and in the red light district one overhears Arabic more often than you would think. Speaking with the Dutch politicians and local residents, many expressed wishes to shut down the houses of prostitution, however organized crime has gained such a hold over it that no one wants to stand up against them. It is quite tragic because on a trip to Kosovo, a place notorious as a human trafficking route, I learned from experts on the region that many of the European prostitutes are kidnapped from throughout the world, and brought to Europe through those routes to work in these bordellos. Many do not speak the language, are regularly beaten, and are fearful that if they left they would be out on the streets. It is human slavery existing today right in the heart of the West. The liberal social climate for years has created so many problems like these, and has dug the society in so deep, that today they are at a loss as to how to deal with the mess.

What I can explain in words about the European situation sounds terrible, but be assured that whatever you believe to be the current state of European affairs, it is 100 times as bad as you think. “100 times as bad”, those were the words told to us by Dutch MP Geert Wilders. This hero of a man was just one of the leaders we met with on our journey. Mr. Wilders was just brought up on charges the day after we met with him on grounds of inciting hate speech for his producing of the factual film called Fitna, which discussed the ideologies behind our Islamic extremist enemies. This attack on free speech is all too common in this region. Yet there is an extreme double standard if one is talking about speech against Jews, Christians, or against conservative ideals. For Europe, it seems perfectly acceptable to tolerate the intolerant.

During our Dutch Parliament visit we saw several school groups on a field trip taking a tour. When a group passed by, one of the MPs we were with told us that this was a typical Dutch school, where out of approximately forty children we could count the number of Dutch on one hand, and saw that 30% of the girls were wearing hijab Islamic head coverings, and the rest were obviously from an Islamic background as well. This is a product of the refugee resettlement programs and open borders, and now the Dutch have found themselves in a situation where more than half the youth of the metropolitan areas are from Islamic backgrounds, two Christian churches are closing each week, and the Saudis are building mosques at an unprecedented rate. Already, Muslim politicians in Amsterdam such as Ahmed Marcouch have called for Muslim only districts to be officially recognized and assisted by the government. These districts already have formed according to some conservative politicians we met with. Dutch MP Martin Bosma told me that in some neighborhoods Sharia Law is already being enacted and there have even been cases of corporal punishment taking place. Local crimes are not brought up to the Dutch authorities, but are instead brought up to the local religious leaders for judgments, and punishments are being carried out, completely bypassing Dutch law. Police are so afraid to enter these neighborhoods, and they are considered no-go zones much like the ones found outside Paris. MP Sietse Fritsma, an immigration expert in the Party for Freedom, told us that the welfare in the state gives an estimated 250,000 Euros ($325,000) total per family over the course of their life in The Netherlands. This establishes a climate of ghettos where there is virtually no economic movement, and the recipients simply survive off the welfare and feel no obligation to contribute to the society that feeds them. He also told us that these communities have a horrific crime rate, and that several Muslim politicians are now calling for Sharia Law in these areas.

While in the Netherlands we met with Professor Hans Jansen, an expert and author on Islamic studies, particularly knowledgeable about the European situation. He explained how the Islamists are becoming very successful in bringing Sharia and unrest to parts of Europe, and are influencing the school systems and government at an amazing rate. Lars Hedegaard from Denmark met with us as well, a journalist and president of The Free Press Society. These two powerhouses gave us an understanding of just how dire the situation really is. Through acts of intimidation from rioting, threats,

and murders such as that of filmmaker Theo Van Gogh, the Islamists are able to gain a profound influence on Dutch society, and now have the numbers to elect their own into Dutch government. We traveled in The Hague with our friend Gerard Batten, member of the European Union Parliament representing the UK, who flew down to meet with us for the briefings in the Dutch Parliament. He is in the EU party UKIP, the United Kingdom Independence Party, who sees the writing on the wall and believes the UK should pull out of the EU. Gerard clearly pointed out how the EU nations have nearly completely lost their sovereignty, the borders have dissolved, and the member nations have turned into states run by a growing liberal bureaucracy. Together we met with Dutch MPs from the Party For Freedom, the party founded and lead by Geert Wilders whom we would meet with the following day. All these inspiring conservative leaders we met with are fighting back, and are taking a courageous stand against the liberal establishment that has such a strong grip over Europe.

While I believe that the majority of liberal Democrats in our government truly think that they are doing what they believe to be best for our nation, many of them are so misguided and uninformed as to what the end results from such policies will be, that I fear if we continue down the same track we will reach the same catastrophic situation that Europe is in today, and America as we know it will be destroyed. The no-go zones, the economic struggles, the civil insurgencies, all this will come to our door step if we don't get our act together. So any time someone says I am too conservative, I will remind them of what has happened in Europe due to liberalism. Prior to leaving The Hague, we went to The U.N. International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia to witness some of the proceedings in the ongoing trials from the civil war in the Balkans. That served as a reminder of what can happen in Europe, or in America if we don't prevent it. Our final day in the Netherlands MP Wilders gave us a message to take back to America, “Stand up, stand up before it is too late.”

There are many factions that threaten our way of life not only in America but in the entire western world. Great Britain, Denmark, France and other countries are inundated with Muslims that want to impose Shariah law upon all citizens irregardless of national origin. Those of us who argue against Shariah are sometimes asked why Islamic law poses a problem when modern Western societies long ago accommodated Halakha, or Jewish law. In fact, this was one of the main talking points of those who argued that Shariah should become an accepted part of dispute resolution in Ontario in 2005.

The answer is easy: a fundamental difference separates the two. Islam is a missionizing religion, Judaism is not. Islamists aspire to apply Islamic law to everyone, while observant Jews seek only to live by Jewish law themselves.

Two very recent examples from the United Kingdom demonstrate the innate imperialism of Islamic law.

The first concerns Queens Care Centre, an old-age home and day-care provider for the elderly in the coal town of Maltby, 40 miles east of Manchester. At present, according to the Daily Telegraph, not one of its 37 staff or 40 residents is Muslim. Although the home's management asserts a respect for its residents' "religious and cultural beliefs," QCC's owner since 1994, Zulfikar Ali Khan, on his own decided this year to switch the home's meat purchases to a halal butcher.

His stealthy decision meant pensioners at QCC could no longer eat their bacon and eggs, bangers and mash, ham sandwiches, bacon sandwiches, pork pies, bacon butties, or sausage rolls. The switch prompted widespread anger. The relative of one resident called it "a disgrace. The old people who are in the home and in their final years deserve better. … [I]t's shocking that they should be deprived of the food they like on the whim of this man." A staff member opined that it's "quite wrong that someone should impose their religious and cultural beliefs on others like this."

Queried about his decision, Khan, lamely replied he ordered halal meat for the sake of (nonexistent) Muslim staff. Then he backtracked: "We will be ordering all types of meat" and went so far as to agree that religious beliefs should not be imposed on others. His retreat did not convince one former QCC staffer, who suspected that Khan "intended to serve only halal meat at the home but has had to think again because of the row."

A second example of imposing Shariah on non-Muslims comes from southwest England. The Avon and Somerset police force patrols the cities of Bristol and Bath as well as surrounding areas has just issued hijabs to female officers. The hijabs, distributed at the initiative of two Muslim groups and costing £13 apiece, come complete with the constabulary's emblem.

Now, issuing hijabs as part of uniforms in Great Britain is nothing new – the London police led the way in 2001, followed by other police forces, at least one fire brigade, and even the furniture chain Ikea. What sets the Avon and Somerset hijabs apart from these others is their being intended not just for pious Muslim female staff but also for non-Muslim staff, in particular for their use upon entering mosques.

[Rashad Azami of the Bath Islamic Society finds it "highly pleasing" that the constabulary took this step. One of the seven non-Muslim officers to receive a hijab of her very own, Assistant Chief Constable Jackie Roberts, calls it "a very positive addition to the uniform and one which I'm sure will be a welcome item for many of our officers."

[Dhimmitude is the term Bat Ye'or coined to describe subservience to Shariah by non-Muslims. Assistant Chief Constable Roberts' enthusiasm for the hijab might be called "advanced dhimmitude."]

"Hijab bullies" (as David J. Rusin of Islamist Watch calls them) who coerce non-Muslim females to cover up are just one stripe of Islamist imposing Shar'i ways on the West. Other Islamists focus on impeding the uncensored discussion of such topics as Muhammad and the Koran or Islamist institutions or terrorist financing; still others exert to bring taxpayer-funded schools, hospitals, and jails into conformity with Islamic law, not to speak of taxi cabs and municipal swimming pools. Their efforts don't always succeed but in the aggregate, they are rapidly shifting the premises of Western, and especially British, life.

Returning to pork: both Islam and Judaism abominate the flesh of pigs, so this prohibition offers a direct and revealing comparison of the two religions. Simply put, Jews accept that non-Jews eat pork but Muslims take offense and try to impede pork consumption. That, in brief, explains why Western accommodations to Halakha have no relevance for dealing with Shariah. And why Shariah as public policy must be opposed.

Aug. 5, 2009 update: Yesterday's Daily Mail offers a coda to the hijabs for non-Muslim British policewomen; how about niqabs for non-Muslim British policewomen?

Three female police officers were ordered to dress up as Muslim women for the day just to see what it felt like. They wore traditional burkhas [DP: sic] as part of a scheme designed to help police interact better with the Islamic community. … The officers, Sergeant Deb Leonard, Sergeant Deb Pickering and Police Community Support Officer Helen Turner, all from Sheffield, were accompanied by four Muslim women to help them learn more about the Islamic faith on a tour of the city. …
A spokesman for the force said the exercise, called "In Your Shoes Day," was designed to help officers interact better with the Muslim community across Sheffield. "This exercise is just one of many activities South Yorkshire Police have planned with communities and ethnic minority leaders to secure strong relationships, celebrate diversity and encourage integration, working towards a safer, closer society," she added. But she said there were no plans to extend the scheme for officers to dress up as members of other minority communities. …
Sergeant Leonard said the experience had given her a greater appreciation of how Muslim women feel when they walk out in public in "clothing appropriate to their beliefs."
