Rotberg pushes for ban on assault weapons in hometown of Lexington
Town Meeting member Robert
Rotberg wants to change national gun laws, so he is starting with a push to
alter Lexington's bylaws.
Rotberg is proposing an
amendment to Chapter 97 of the Code of Lexington, titled “Code of Conduct,” to
ban the ownership of semi-automatic or fully automatic weapons able to hold
ammunition clips containing more than 10 rounds. He submitted a citizen
petition for the annual Town Meeting warrant, so Town Meeting members will have
a chance to decide whether to support his proposed changes in March.
“This is Lexington taking a
stand,” Rotberg said. “I hope that with Lexington approving something like this
at Town Meeting, other towns will copy and emulate us and we can spread this
movement around the state.”
A resident needs the Town Clerk
to certify the signatures of 10 registered voters to place a citizens’ petition
on an annual Town Meeting warrant, according to state law.
Rotberg said the proposal does
not oppose the Second Amendment of the U.S. Constitution, which states, “A well-regulated
militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right to keep and
bear arms, shall not be infringed.”
“It doesn’t restrict anything
except the most murderous types of weapons,” said Rotberg, who added he has
garnered support from other residents. “They wouldn’t be able to purchase or
possess heavy-duty assault weapons in the town of Lexington.”
Rotberg said the proposal is
modeled after a 2013
ordinance passed in Highland Park, Illinois, which banned
assault weapons and large capacity weapons. On Dec. 7, the U.S. Supreme Court
decided not to hear an appeal of the case in
which a resident sued the city for instituting the ban. Jonathan Lowy, director
of the Brady Center’s Legal Action Project, responded to the decision by stating, "We are pleased
that the Supreme Court will not disturb the ruling that the Constitution allows
for common sense public safety laws, and does not entitle people to
military-style weapons of war. Like any right, the Second Amendment is
necessarily limited by the public’s right to live -- a right not to be shot.”
The Brady Campaign to End
Gun Violence is named for James Brady, press secretary for President
Ronald Reagan, who was seriously injured in the 1981 assassination attempt on
Reagan and died in 2014. It lists as its mission "to create a safer
America for all of us that will lead to a dramatic reduction in gun deaths and
injuries."
Supreme Court Justices Clarence
Thomas and Antonin Scalia dissented from the decision not to hear the case,
with Thomas writing that the court had previously
ruled, “that the Second Amendment protects a personal right to keep and bear
arms for lawful purposes, most notably for self-defense within the home,"
and that, "If a broad ban on firearms can be upheld based on conjecture
that the public might feel safer (while being no safer at all), then the Second
Amendment guarantees nothing."
Rotberg said the proposal to
change Lexington's bylaws comes as close to the Highland Park ordinance as
possible.
If passed by Town Meeting,
then the Attorney General's Office staff will review the bylaws, as it does
with all potential bylaws, to determine if they comply with the state
constitution.
Lexington gun licenses
As of Dec. 2, there were 165
people with active Firearms Identification Cards (FIDs) in Lexington. FID
cards, which are valid for six years, allow the holder to possess a non-large
capacity firearm, rifle or shotgun, according to Lexington Police Capt.
Michael McLean.
There were 717 residents with
one of the two licenses to carry (LTC), which are valid for six years, as of
the same date, McLean said. Of those, there are 697 Class A licenses, which
allow for the possession and transport of large-capacity firearms, shotguns and
rifles and semiautomatic and automatic weapons. A Class B license allows for
the possession and transport of non-large-capacity firearms.
Licenses to carry can only be
issued to people 21 and older. FID cards can be issued to residents who are 15
years old or older.
There are four residents with a
license to possess a machine gun, which by Massachusetts law can only be issued
to firearms instructors for the purpose of training police or a collector of
firearms, McLean said.
Michaela Dunne, a manager at
the Massachusetts Department of Criminal Justice Information Services, said
military personnel in Massachusetts do not need to have a license to carry a
firearm while on duty, so any license held by a service-member is for private
use.
Dunne would not immediately
release the number or types of weapons registered in Massachusetts.
Rotberg said he hopes pushing
for the amendment will not only limit the types of firearms in Lexington but
spread to other communities in Massachusetts.
“Now it will go before Town
Meeting in March or April, and at that point, the hope is we’ll get lots of
interest in Concord, Bedford, Acton and so on,” Rotberg said.

- So the NFL thinks they have security under control??? Cough, cough, bullshit, cough, cough. The attached is a picture of the guy that was caught on security cameras at Soldier Field two weeks ago filming the entire facility, including the parking garage, for 45 minutes at 5:30 on Sunday morning. In this screen shot the video and cell phone he was using is under his coat. No call was made to police by the two security goof balls that were watching him until they scared him off by riding up to him on a golf cart. Not one to ever "profile", I have to say this guy certainly doesn't look like your average Bears fan.
The reader included a picture and we certainly hope it's in the hands of the FBI and others.

A Kansas City mosque that has deep ties to the Muslim Brotherhood has received close to $3 MILLION in federal grants over the past several years information obtained from a federal spending database reveals.
According to The Daily Caller, the Islamic Center of Greater Kansas City has received $2,739,891 in taxpayer money from the Department of Agriculture. The money largely went to the mosque’s Crescent Clinic to provide services through the Women, Infant and Children nutrition program, known as WIC.
The most recent dispersal of federal funds on record occurred on Oct. 1 in the amount of $327,436.
The mosque is owned by the North American Islamic Trust (NAIT), which acts as a financial holding company for Islamic organizations. It offers sharia-compliant financial products to Muslim investors, operates Islamic schools and owns more than 300 other mosques throughout the U.S.
Founded in 1973 as an offshoot of the Muslim Brotherhood-backed Muslim Students Association, NAIT’s most controversial connection is to the 2007 and 2008 Holy Land Foundation terror financing cases. Along with other Muslim Brotherhood-linked organizations like the Islamic Society of North America (ISNA) and the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), NAIT was named a co-conspirator in the federal case but was not indicted.
At the Holy Land Foundation trial, evidence was presented that ISNA diverted funds from the accounts it held with NAIT to institutions linked to Hamas and to Mousa Abu Marzook, a senior Hamas leader.
Federal prosecutors introduced evidence in the case that “established that ISNA and NAIT were among those organizations created by the U.S.-Muslim Brotherhood.” Hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of checks drawn from ISNA’s account and deposited in the Holy Land Foundation’s account with NAIT were made payable to “the Palestinian Mujahadeen,” which is the original name for Hamas’ military wing.
While Hamas was designated as a foreign terrorist organization by the U.S. government in 1997 and is considered the Palestinian branch of the Muslim Brotherhood, the larger Muslim Brotherhood is not itself designated as a terrorist group.
Obama is giving taxpayer money to groups that will potentially be used to fund known terrorist organizations here and overseas.
And as Conservative Tribune points out, even though the Obama administration has refused to list the Muslim Brotherhood itself as a terrorist organization, much of the rest of the world HAS done just that. The British government recently declared that the group’s ideology and tactics “are contrary to our values and have been contrary to our national interests and our national security.”
The NAIT also has a number of other ties to terrorism outside of the Holy Land terror financing case, in that they own a number of mosques and Islamic centers across the country that have featured or harbored controversial imams and individuals who have gone on to commit terrorist acts.
It would be nothing less than criminal if it turns out that our tax dollars have been used to fund terrorist organizations bent on slaughtering Americans and imposing their seventh century way of life on our modern society.
Every American needs to know that Obama is giving taxpayer dollars to Muslim Brotherhood-linked mosques and Islamic centers that have been accused of funding terrorism in the past.

Written sometime in 1987 but not formally published until May 22, 1991, Akram's 18-page document listed the Brotherhood’s 29 likeminded "organizations of our friends" that shared the common goal of dismantling American institutions and turning the U.S. into a Muslim nation. These "friends" were identified by Akram and the Brotherhood as groups that could help convince Muslims "that their work in America is a kind of grand Jihad in eliminating and destroying the Western civilization from within and 'sabotaging' its miserable house by their hands ... so that ... God's religion [Islam] is made victorious over all other religions."
Akram was well aware that in the U.S., it would be extremely difficult to promote Islam by means of terror attacks. Thus the “grand jihad” that he and his Brotherhood comrades envisioned was not a violent one involving bombings and shootings, but rather a stealth (or “soft”) jihad aiming to impose Islamic law (Sharia) over every region of the earth by incremental, non-confrontational means, such as working to “expand the observant Muslim base”; to “unif[y] and direc[t] Muslims' efforts”; and to “present Islam as a civilization alternative.” At its heart, Akram's document details a plan to conquer and Islamize the United States – not as an ultimate objective, but merely as a stepping stone toward the larger goal of one day creating “the global Islamic state.”
In line with this objective, Akram and the Brotherhood resolved to "settle" Islam and the Islamic movement within the United States, so that the Muslim religion could be "enabled within the souls, minds and the lives of the people of the country.” Akram explained that this could be accomplished “through the establishment of firmly-rooted organizations on whose bases civilization, structure and testimony are built.” He urged Muslim leaders to make “a shift from the collision mentality to the absorption mentality,” meaning that they should abandon any tactics involving defiance or confrontation, and seek instead to implant into the larger society a host of seemingly benign Islamic groups with ostensibly unobjectionable motives; once those groups had gained a measure of public acceptance, they would be in a position to more effectively promote societal transformation by the old Communist technique of “boring from within.”
“The heart and the core” of this strategy, said Akram, was contingent upon these groups' ability to develop “a mastery of the art of 'coalitions.'” That is, by working synergistically they could complement, augment, and amplify one another's efforts. Added Akram: “The big challenge that is ahead of us is how to turn these seeds or 'scattered' elements into comprehensive, stable, 'settled' organizations that are connected with our Movement and which fly in our orbit and take orders from our guidance.” The ultimate objective was not only an enlarged Muslim presence, but also implementation of the Brotherhood objectives of transforming pluralistic societies, particularly America, into Islamic states, and sweeping away Western notions of legal equality, freedom of conscience, freedom of religion, and freedom of speech.

A Kansas-City mosque has

years. The kicker is that the Islamic Center of Greater Kansas City is tied to

NAIT owns the Boston
bombers’ mosque; the mosque attended by Anwar al-Awalaki; the mosque where
Khalid al-Mihdhar and Nawaf al-Hazmi attended and who eventually flew American
Flight 77 into the Pentagon on 9/11; helped the San Bernardino terrorists
secure housing; and provided $100,000 to bail out Elton Simpson for lying to
the feds about trying to join a Somali terrorist group – Simpson later opened
fire on the Garland, Texas cartoon event with his cohort Nadir Soofi.
NAIT, CAIR and ISNA
are unindicted co-conspirators as part of The Holy Land Foundation
terrorism trial. They are tied to terrorism through the Muslim Brotherhood and
Hamas.
Obama uses the Muslim
Brotherhood organizations as advisors but they have been declared terrorists in
the Muslim world by the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Egypt. A recent report to the
British Parliament declared that the Muslim Brotherhood’s ideology and tactics
“are contrary to our values and have been contrary to our national interests
and our national security.”
The UK is currently
looking at the dangers to national security presented by the organizations tied
to the Brotherhood.
The UK allowed the report referenced above to be submitted to
parliament which was prepared under the direction of Sir John Jenkins and
which demonstrates that the “moderate” Brotherhood is not a solution to the
problem but the problem itself.
According to FrontPage Magazine: The
Jenkins report rejects the “moderate” label so often slapped on the hate group
by lazy media hacks. Instead it describes the Brotherhood as a clandestine
group organized into a “secretive ‘cell’ structure” seeking to create a
“Caliphate under sharia law” using a doctrine that allows “the use of extreme
violence in the pursuit of the perfect Islamic society”. That ideology is
inspired “Al Qaida and its offshoots”. The most obvious offshoot to employ this
Takfiri approach is ISIS.
Sir John concluded on this
complex subject that, for the most part, the Muslim Brotherhood prefers non-violent
incremental change for the sake of expediency but will resort to terrorism
“where gradualism is ineffective.”
Frank Gaffney, head of the
Center for Security Policy, extensively documented Muslim Brotherhood
subversion efforts, both in the United States and abroad.
Mr. Gaffney has said the
Muslim Brotherhood is the most dangerous group promoting the totalitarian and
Islamist supremacist doctrine of Sharia. Several Muslim Brotherhood supporters
have been identified as key advisers to Mr. Obama, according to Mr. Gaffney.
Egyptian press reports
after the ouster of Mr. Morsi have revealed extensive cooperation between the
CIA and the Muslim Brotherhood during Mr. Morsi’s presidency. We didn’t need
Egypt to tell us, it was obvious.
The benefits we are
funneling to this mosque could easily be supporting terrorism indirectly.
Despite the fact that the
Muslim world recognizes the danger of these organizations, Mr. Obama has
allowed these radical groups to hijack our foreign policy.
In July 2007, seven key
leaders of an Islamic charity known as the Holy Land Foundation for Relief and
Development (HLF) went on trial for charges that they engaged in money
laundering to finance the terror organization Hamas which falls under the
umbrella organization, the Muslim Brotherhood.
One of the most significant
documents presented into evidence during the trial was a document compiled by a
Muslim Brotherhood operative named Mohamed Akram.
Titled, “An Explanatory
Memorandum on the General Strategic Goal for the Group in North America”, the
18-page document listed the Brotherhood’s 29 like-minded “organizations of
our friends” that shared the common goal of dismantling American institutions
and turning the U.S. into a Muslim nation. These “friends” were identified by
Akram and the Brotherhood as groups that could help convince Muslims “that
their work in America is a kind of grand Jihad in eliminating and destroying
the Western civilization from within and ‘sabotaging’ its miserable house by
their hands … so that … God’s religion [Islam] is made victorious over all
other religions.”

Conquering the US by jihad
was seen as too difficult and instead it was recommended that a
stealth (or “soft”) jihad be implemented to impose Islamic law (Sharia) over
every region of the earth by incremental, non-confrontational means, such as
working to “expand the observant Muslim base”; to “unif[y] and direc[t] Muslims’
efforts”; and to “present Islam as a civilization alternative.”
It is believed that Eric
Holder and Barack Obama scuttled further investigation and charges against these terror-tied mosques
and organizations. Holder refused to give up documents not already
made public because he said there was a “political” aspect to his job which is
not the case. His job was “justice.”
Instead of funding these
mosques, shouldn’t we be shutting them down?

In July 2007, seven
key leaders of an Islamic charity known as the Holy Land

Akram and the
Brotherhood understood that in order to succeed in this endeavor, they needed
to appeal to different strata of the American population in different ways;
that whereas some people could be influenced by messages delivered from a
religious perspective, others would be more responsive to messages delivered by
educators, or bankers, or political figures, or journalists, etc. Thus, Akram's
blueprint for the advancement of the Islamic movement stressed the need to form
a coalition of groups coming from the worlds of education; religious proselytization;
political activism; audio and video production; print media; banking and
finance; the physical sciences; the social sciences; professional and business
networking; cultural affairs; the publishing and distribution of books;
children and teenagers; women's rights; vocational concerns; and jurisprudence.
By promoting the Islamic movement on such a wide variety of fronts, the Brotherhood and its allies could multiply exponentially their influence. Toward that end, the Akram/Brotherhood “Explanatory Memorandum” named the following 29 groups as the organizations they believed could collaborate effectively to destroy America from within – “if they all march according to one plan”:
By promoting the Islamic movement on such a wide variety of fronts, the Brotherhood and its allies could multiply exponentially their influence. Toward that end, the Akram/Brotherhood “Explanatory Memorandum” named the following 29 groups as the organizations they believed could collaborate effectively to destroy America from within – “if they all march according to one plan”:

Rumors of Hillary Clinton's poor physical and mental condition have persisted for years.
Last month, State Department emails obtained by Judicial Watch revealed that Clinton's close personal aide Huma Abedin (who has well-documented ties to the terror group the Muslim Brotherhood) warned colleagues that Clinton's mental stability appeared to be deteriorating:Abedin advised Clinton aide and frequent companion Monica Hanley that it was “very important” to go over phone calls with Clinton because the former Secretary of State was “often confused...”
The emails, from Abedin’s “Huma@clintonemail.com” address, also reveal repeated security breaches, with the Secretary’s schedule and movements being sent and received through Abedin’s non-governmental and unsecured Clinton server account...
... The emails document requests for special State Department treatment for a Clinton Foundation associate and Abedin’s mother, a controversial Islamist leader.
This week, on three separate occasions, Clinton seemed to affirm Abedin's cautions, demonstrating significant confusion that raised the eyebrows of the media:
So we have a potential president who appears to have obvious and troubling issues with mental acuity.
Furthermore, her most trusted personal aide and proxy, Huma Abedin, is linked -- both directly and through family ties -- to the terrorist group the Muslim Brotherhood.
The Brotherhood, in addition to being a notorious sponsor of Islamic terror worldwide, traces its lineage directly back to Nazi Germany.
So one does not have to be overly paranoid to imagine that Hillary's personal version of Valerie Jarrett, i.e., a senior aide reputed to make many of the decisions in the White House, would be a potential Islamist sympathizer and/or conspirator.

Today America is at war with ISIS. They attack our soldiers, our homeland and our friends. When our law abiding citizens need to protect our streets and communities most, President Obama chooses this same moment to limit OUR gun rights. This is my response to his unbelievable position.
