Police State...spreading like an out of control virus

Obama's police state strikes again
by Antrhony Martin @The Examiner
Since the election of Barack Obama in 2008, citizens across the country have reported and documented with photos and videos the growing militarization of police, leading many to declare that the United States is now a police state. Numerous photos and videos have shown police officers dressed in military uniforms and carrying military grade weapons, transported by military style vehicles.
But the behavior of some police officers is even more troublesome than the equipment they are using.
The latest incident occurred in DeKalb County, Ga. in the early morning hours of July 26 when police came knocking on the door of Natania Griffin at 1:30 a.m. Griffin's 23 year old son, Donovan Hall, stated that he heard knocks on the door that only got louder and louder, until those who sought entrance were outright banging aggressively on the door.
Hall said that he was confused as to why police would be at the home at such an hour.
Finally, Hall timidly opened the door and asked what the officers wanted. They never answered his question, said Hall, but immediately stormed into the house and pinned Hall and his brother on the floor.
At that point Hall reports that the officers began to kick and beat the two brothers and at one point held a taser to the head of the younger sibling. Both were placed in handcuffs and never told why, nor were they informed of any charges against them.
It turns out that the mother of the home, Natania Griffin, owed the county $1,000.00 in a civil fine. She was 15 days late with the payment. But the officers never stated why they were there nor did they read Griffin her rights. Neither of Griffin's sons were being placed under arrest, although they were beaten and cuffed.
Yet in a video taken by Hall of the incident, one of the officers is heard to exclaim, "I wish I could cane both y'all's asses."
The 19-minute video, embedded in the top left column, captures most of what took place on that horrific night. The family posted the video on YouTube, where it immediately went viral.
Griffin reports that she hopes to hire a lawyer to investigate what action can be taken against the DeKalb County Sheriffs Department, but the family lacks the funds to do so.
"Although it happened to my family," said Griffin, "It's a microcosm of the world. What about the other countless families who feel powerless against this kind of tyranny? Who is championing their cause? This is a problem."
A problem, indeed. And Griffin is 100 percent correct in referring to it as tyranny. The growing police state along with the routine trampling of guaranteed Constitutional rights is the proof.

And why does a small southern town need such heavy equipment?

Doraville named one of the “50 safest cities in Georgia”
Efforts by local law enforcement have led to Doraville being listed in the top 50 safest towns and cities in Georgia. Safewise, a community-focused security organization that is the source for everything safety and security-related, recently released their findings based on recent FBI crime data from 2012, population, and other ranking factors like unique safety initiatives and security programs implemented within the past few years.
A 'Don't Mess With Us' reason Doraville is one of the
“50 safest cities in Georgia”
According to the report, Doraville continues to thrive and supports a growing and diverse population in the Atlanta metropolitan area while maintaining a small town charm. “This close-knit community offers a wide range of activities that builds teamwork and camaraderie among its participants, particularly the youth” the report noted. The study cited low 2012 crime statistics, including only 19 reported robberies and 12 reported aggravated assults in the entire year in Doraville, and credited a wide range of safety and crime prevention programs such as auto theft prevention, con and fraud prevention, a crime prevention checklist for businesses and home safety as factors in the favorable ranking for the city.
“Earning a spot on this list is a great honor for Doraville and a testament to the hard work of our police department,” said Doraville Mayor Donna Pittman. “We are very excited to be named one of the 50 safest cities in Georgia,” added Doraville City Manager Dr. Shawn Gillen. “And we will continue to work to improve public safety in our city. I am very proud of our police department and the hard work they have done not only in the past, but every day.”

We make law!

This (see video below) may be considered a powerful speech in the eyes (and ears) of the Congress who it is addressed to but it says nothing about what it should be saying...which I'll get to in a moment.  The standing ovation is nothing more than the members of Congress patting themselves on the back for something that each and everyone of them wishes they had said.  It also tries to convey the message that the House of Representatives has some semblance of power not recognized by the would be dictator in the White House whereas the Congress has as much power as the president and yet they fail to use it.   I take issue with Mr. Gowdy about a minute and twelve seconds into his tirade where he says, "We know that the president can refuse to defend the constitutionality of a statute, even one that he signs into law."   Mr. Gowdy is a lawyer, I am not...but where in the Constitution does it allow the president to violate his oath of office? (“I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the Office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my Ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States.”)  While taking the oath is a prerequisite of becoming president and is a pact (or an appeal) with a Deity which cannot be broken unless the two parties agree (the two parties to the oath would be the oath taker and the Deity and I don't believe any such Deity, be it God or Allah, has been negotiating with Obama).  I don't see a footnote to the word 'defend' in the oath where the president can 'refuse to defend' therefor he must defend!  With that said, no man is above the law...the president must defend the Constitution.  If no man (or woman) is above the law and as such breaks the law, is the law breaker not punished?  Incarcerated?
While the Constitution has procedures for impeaching a president it says nothing about arresting a law-breaking president.  So Mr. Gowdy I would suggest that you call the Sergeant at Arms over at the U.S. Senate and have the law-breaker arrested...and then you may start impeachment proceedings!  Get the criminal off the streets! (Note: The Sergeant at Arms is authorized to arrest and detain any person violating Senate rules, including the President of the United States.) ~ Norman E. Hooben

HELP WANTED ...poor people for Congress...Americans are in desperate need for representation

"We have a government of the wealthy, by the wealthy and for the wealthy."
Source: End Of The American Dream
For The First Time Ever, More Than Half The Members Of Congress Are Millionaires
U.S. Capitol BuildingWealthy members of Congress are living the high life at taxpayer expense, while most of the rest of the country continues to suffer through one of the worst economic periods in our lifetimes. According to an analysis conducted by the Center for Responsive Politics earlier this year, more than half of the members of Congress are millionaires. This is the first time that this has ever happened in U.S. history. In addition, the same study found that a hundred members of Congress are actually worth at least five million dollars. We have a government of the wealthy, by the wealthy and for the wealthy, but as you will see below, that isn’t stopping members of Congress from wasting taxpayer money in some incredibly bizarre ways. Millions of dollars are being spent on “office expenses” and on the hair care needs of Senators, but very little is being done to stop this abuse. It is almost as if the American people have just accepted that this is how “big government” is supposed to operate.
No matter what your political affiliation is, it should bother you that we are overwhelmingly being represented by the very wealthy. We are supposed to be a government “of the people”, but instead Congress is rapidly becoming a millionaire’s club
For the first time in history, most members of Congress are millionaires, according to a new analysis of personal financial disclosure data by the Center for Responsive Politics.
Of 534 current members of Congress, at least 268 had an average net worth of $1 million or more in 2012, according to disclosures filed last year by all members of Congress and candidates. The median net worth for the 530 current lawmakers who were in Congress as of the May filing deadline was $1,008,767 — an increase from the previous year when it was $966,000.
And this is true on both sides of the aisle. In fact, when you break the numbers down by political party, they come out almost exactly the same
Breaking the numbers down further, congressional Democrats had a median net worth of $1.04 million, while congressional Republicans had a median net worth of almost exactly $1 million. In both cases, the figures are up from last year, when the numbers were $990,000 and $907,000, respectively.
Of course wealthy people should not be prevented from serving in Congress.
All Americans should have that opportunity.
But when it gets to the point that only wealthy people are being elected, then we have a major problem on our hands.
Yes, a million dollars does not go as far as it used to. But it still puts you in the upper stratosphere of American society.
And these days, there are nearly 200 members of Congress that are multimillionaires
Nearly 200 are multimillionaires. One hundred are worth more than $5 million; the top-10 deal in nine digits. The annual congressional salary alone—$174,000 a year—qualifies every member as the top 6 percent of earners. None of them are close to experiencing the poverty-reduction programs—affordable housing, food assistance, Medicaid—that they help control. Though some came from poverty, a recent analysis by Nicholas Carnes, in his book White Collar Government: The Hidden Role of Class in Economic Policymaking, found that only 13 out of 783 members of Congress from 1999 to 2008 came from a “blue-collar” upbringing.
Wow.
Shouldn’t we actually want to have some representatives that come from “blue collar” backgrounds?
So why do we have so few?
Has our political system failed?
Those are some important questions that we should be asking.
And then when all of these wealthy individuals get to Congress, they see absolutely no problem with spending U.S. taxpayer money like it is going out of style. For example, according to the Weekly Standard, more than five million dollars has been spent on the hair care needs of U.S. Senators alone over the past 15 years…
Senate Hair Care Services has cost taxpayers about $5.25 million over 15 years. They foot the bill of more than $40,000 for the shoeshine attendant last fiscal year. Six barbers took in more than $40,000 each, including nearly $80,000 for the head barber.
All of this is just for 100 U.S. Senators?
Many of them don’t even have much hair left anymore.
But of course the waste doesn’t stop there.
In one recent year, an average of $4,005,900 was spent on “personal” and “office” expenses per U.S. Senator.
So the grand total would have been over 400 million dollars.
Nearly half a billion dollars should be able to buy quite a bit of paper for the copier, eh?
And even when they leave Washington D.C., members of Congress will continue to collect huge chunks of U.S. taxpayer money for the rest of their lives
In 2011, 280 former lawmakers who retired under a former government pension system received average annual pensions of $70,620, according to a Congressional Research Service report. They averaged around 20 years of service. At the same time, another 215 retirees (elected in 1984 or later with an average of 15 years of service) received average annual checks of roughly $40,000 a year.
I sure wish that I could collect a pension like that after working for only a few years.
Yes, members of Congress sure are living the high life at our expense.
Meanwhile, much of the rest of the country is really suffering right now…
-20 percent of all American families do not have a single member that is employed.
-One out of every eight men in their prime working years are not employed and are not looking for a job either.
-Due to a lack of economic opportunities, close to a third of all Americans 18 to 34 years old live with their parents.
-More Americans than ever before have been forced to turn to the government for assistance. The following numbers come from my recent article entitled “18 Stats That Prove That Government Dependence Has Reached Epidemic Levels“…
#1 According to an analysis of U.S. government numbers conducted by Terrence P. Jeffrey, there are 86 million full-time private sector workers in the United States paying taxes to support the government, and nearly 148 million Americans that are receiving benefits from the government each month. How long can such a lopsided system possibly continue?
#2 Ten years ago, the number of women in the U.S. that had jobs outnumbered the number of women in the U.S. on food stamps by more than a 2 to 1 margin. But now the number of women in the U.S. on food stamps actually exceeds the number of women that have jobs.
#3 The U.S. government has spent an astounding 3.7 trillion dollars on welfare programs over the past five years.
You can read the rest of that article right here.
As for the rest of us, the fatcats in Washington D.C. see absolutely nothing wrong with taxing us into oblivion in order to keep the big government that they have created running smoothly.
Once upon a time, members of Congress were actually considered to be “public servants”.
If you tried to make that claim today, people would laugh at you.
Congress has become a club for the wealthy elite. They don’t care about the rest of us, and unless you are able to donate large amounts of money to their campaigns, you will probably be treated with contempt by them. They do pretty much whatever they want, and they have little fear of ever being held accountable because they know that incumbents have a re-election rate that is absolutely overwhelming.
Perhaps all of this helps to explain why the approval rating for Congress is sitting at just 13 percent at this point.

Government land grab about to hit Texas...

Remember what they did in California...

Well if if hasn't already hit your wallet on the east coast, wait 'till you see what happens when they do it to Texas!
Hey, here's a novelty idea...why not have the state of Texas ban the EPA...as far as I know we still have a 10th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution.

The National Debt...This is utter insanity!

The United States Of Debt: Total Debt In America Hits A New Record High Of Nearly 60 Trillion Dollars
What would you say if I told you that Americans are nearly 60 TRILLION dollars in debt?
by Michael Snyder|Economic Collapse
What would you say if I told you that Americans are nearly 60 TRILLION dollars in debt? Well, it is true. When you total up all forms of debt including government debt, business debt, mortgage debt and consumer debt, we are 59.4 trillion dollars in debt. That is an amount of money so large that it is difficult to describe it with words. For example, if you were alive when Jesus Christ was born and you had spent 80 million dollars every single day since then, you still would not have spent 59.4 trillion dollars by now. And most of this debt has been accumulated in recent decades. If you go back 40 years ago, total debt in America was sitting at about 2.2 trillion dollars. Somehow over the past four decades we have allowed the total amount of debt in the United States to get approximately 27 times larger. This is utter insanity, and anyone that thinks this is sustainable is completely deluded. We are living in the greatest debt bubble of all time, and there is no way that this is going to end well. Just check out the chart…
When the last recession hit, total debt in America actually started going down for a short period of time.
But then the Federal Reserve and our politicians in Washington worked feverishly to reinflate the bubble and they assured everyone that everything was going to be just fine. So Americans once again resorted to their free spending ways, and now total debt in the United States is rising at almost the same trajectory as before and has hit a new all-time record high.
We see a similar thing when we look at a chart for consumer debt in America

For a while after the recession it was trendy to cut up your credit cards and get out of debt.
But that fad wore off rather quickly, didn’t it?
It is almost as if 2008 never happened. We are making the same mistakes with debt that we did before.
As I noted recently, total consumer credit in the U.S. has risen by 22 percent over the past three years alone, and at this point 56 percent of all Americans have a subprime credit rating.
And have you noticed that a lot of people are not afraid to extend themselves in order to buy shiny new vehicles these days?
During the first quarter 0f this year, the size of the average vehicle loan soared to a new all-time record high of $27,612.
Five years ago, that number was just $24,174.
And as I noted in one recent article, the size of the average monthly car payment in this country is now up to $474.
That is practically a mortgage payment.
Speaking of mortgage payments, even though home sales have been falling and the rate of homeownership in the United States is the lowest that it has been in 19 years, a very large percentage of those who own homes are still overextended.
In fact, one recent survey discovered that a whopping 52 percent of Americans cannot even afford the house that they are living in right now.
At the same time, an increasing number of Americans are acting as if the last financial crisis never happened and are treating their homes like piggy banks. Home equity loans are soaring again, and when the next great crisis strikes a lot of those people are going to end up getting into a lot of financial trouble.
There has been much written about what is wrong with the housing industry, but the truth is that home prices are still way too high and young adults cannot afford to purchase homes because they are already loaded down by huge amounts of debt even before they get to the point where they are ready to buy.
In fact, a newly released survey found that 47 percent of millennials are spending at least half of their paychecks on paying off debt…
Four in 10 millennials say they are “overwhelmed” by their debt — nearly double the number of baby boomers who feel that way, according to a Wells Fargo survey of more than 1,600 millennials between 22 and 33 years old, and 1,500 baby boomers between 49 and 59 years old.
To try to get out from underneath it, 47% said they spend at least half of their monthly paychecks on paying off their debts.
When I read that I was absolutely astounded.
Of course the biggest debt that many young adults are facing is student loan debt. According to the Federal Reserve, there is now more than 1.2 trillion dollars of student loan debt in this country, and about 124 billion dollars of that total is more than 90 days delinquent.
What we have done to our young people is shameful. We have encouraged them to sign up for a lifetime of debt slavery before they even understand what life is all about. The following is an excerpt from my previous article entitled “Is College A Waste Of Time And Money?“…
In America today, approximately two-thirds of all college students graduate with student loan debt, and the average debt level has been steadily rising. In fact, one study found that “70 percent of the class of 2013 is graduating with college-related debt – averaging $35,200 – including federal, state and private loans, as well as debt owed to family and accumulated through credit cards.”
That would be bad enough if most of these students were getting decent jobs that enabled them to service that debt.
But unfortunately, that is often not the case. It has been estimated that about half of all recent college graduates are working jobs that do not even require a college degree.
Considering what you just read, is it a surprise that half of all college graduates in America are still financially dependent on their parents when they are two years out of college?
According to the U.S. Census Bureau, only 36 percent of all Americans under the age of 35 own a home at this point. That is the lowest level that has ever been recorded.
And we are passing on to our young people the largest single debt in all of human history. Weighing in at 17.5 trillion dollars, the U.S. national debt is a colossal behemoth. And almost all of that debt has been accumulated over the past 40 years. In fact, 40 years ago the U.S. national debt was less than half a trillion dollars.
But this is just the beginning. As the Baby Boomer “demographic tsunami” washes through our economy, we are going to be facing a wave of red ink unlike anything we have ever contemplated before.
Meanwhile, the rest of the planet is drowning in debt as well.
As I wrote about the other day, the total amount of debt in the world has risen to a new all-time record high of $223,300,000,000,000.
Our “leaders” keep acting as if these debt levels can keep growing much faster than the overall level of economic growth indefinitely.
But anyone with even a shred of common sense knows that you can’t spend more money that you bring in forever.
At some point, a day of reckoning arrives.
2008 should have been a major wake up call that resulted in massive changes. But instead, our leaders just patched up the old system and re-inflated the old bubbles so that they are now even larger than they were before.
They assure us that they know exactly what they are doing and that everything will be just fine.
Unfortunately they are dead wrong.
