Former CBS News president Richard Salant (1961 - 64 and 1966 - 79) explained the major media's role: "Our job is to give people not what they want, but what we decide they ought to have." ...and to this very day most Americans haven't noticed they're being brained washed! ~ N. Hooben

Poor Americans Need A Television... Do you have a problem with that? We should have a parade!
It is time that we get rid of Welfare as we know it. Get rid of the subsidized housing (which raises rentals to obscene levels), get rid of free money, and get rid of food stamps for most. If you are able to work, you must work to make ends meet.
I work, and yes I am poor. I pay my bills, put some away in savings and even give to charity (someone is worse than I am). But I'm furious that there are people who do nothing for their money, and demand more from those of us who work and pay not only our bills, but theirs also.
We're on the same page... When I was in my fifties I literally had to start all over again...I took minimum wage jobs and at one time worked three jobs at the same time (got about 4 hours of sleep per day)...eventually got out of the hole and back on my career path...I'm now retired and everything we have is paid for in full including two homes and two vehicles...it took some hard work but I didn't take any government handouts and I never took any foodstamps when I was eligible...
