Price Supports Repeal of ObamaCare and Its Unconstitutional Mandate

 Replace It With Patient-Centered Reforms

Washington, Jun 15 - Republican Study Committee Chairman Tom Price (R-GA) issued the following statement after Democrats voted against a Republican proposal to eliminate the federal mandate that requires all Americans to purchase health insurance. To date, 20 states with the support of the National Federation of Independent Business have joined together to challenge this unconstitutional mandate in court.

The Constitution’s limits on federal power were ripped to shreds and disregarded in the writing of ObamaCare,” said Chairman Price.  “If Democrats can force every single American to buy health insurance, do they not also have the power to make us all buy sunscreen or eat our vegetables?  Where does it end?  With their individual mandate, Democrats also usurped the power to say whose health care coverage is acceptable and whose is not.  No longer will individuals be allowed to make their own health care decisions.

“ObamaCare’s individual mandate is unconstitutional.  Republicans will continue working to fully repeal this monstrosity and replace it with reforms that empower patients rather than Washington bureaucrats.”
