Hey! Ya wanna buy a lighthouse? ...Whoops, too late! Sold!

New Owner Will Face Challenge With Butler Flats Plan - 1420 WBSM

With the report that the new owner of the Butler Flats Lighthouse was touring the property this week, it appears the Texas businessman’s plan is to turn the 118-year-old lighthouse into a bed and breakfast.

It’s a plan that has already worked out well at another South Coast lighthouse, but there’s no guarantee Butler Flats will have a similar outcome.

“All lighthouses are different and come with their own Pandora’s Box. Once you’ve opened it, you have no idea what you got yourself into,” said Nick Korstad, owner of the Borden Flats Lighthouse in Fall River.

When the federal government passed the National Historic Lighthouse Preservation Act of 2000 that allows them to be offered for sale to the general public (after nonprofits get first crack), Korstad fell in love with the idea of purchasing a lighthouse—despite being just a kid at the time. He purchased the Borden Flats Lighthouse in 2010 and lovingly restored it into a unique bed and breakfast.

Korstad is a lighthouse enthusiast and was interested in the Butler Flats property as well when it first hit the auction block after being deemed “surplus” by the federal government. Like Borden Flats, it is also a “sparkplug”-style structure.

“Butler Flats will be a huge challenge,” said Korstad, who toured Butler Flats with the Government Services Administration in 2012. “It was in very rough condition and very exposed to Buzzards’ Bay. We toured in the first week of September and took the Harbor Master Police boat out. We encountered 10-foot swells and tore the front pontoon off the boat trying to access the ladder. That’s when I said, ‘No thanks!’”

The new owner seems to have money behind him if he’s willing to take on the restoration efforts of Butler Flats, which some estimates put at over $1 million for full restoration. He paid $80,000 for the lighthouse in a November 2015 auction.

“To me, passion exceeds money,” Korstad said. “If you have a drive to accomplish a restoration, the money will come. Butler Flats will not be expensive to ‘cosmetically’ beautify. The cost will come fixing and securing the foundations.”

Korstad said the lighthouse is built upon a cast iron caisson filled with rocks and concrete. The caisson is bolted together and provides protection to the concrete from ice, waves and the elements.

“Unfortunately, the foundation has a lot of fatigue,” he said. “This is caused from corrosion, freeze/thaw and a lack of maintenance. There are places in the foundation where you can fit your hand through, and others that have band-aided. Once the plates fail, it’s a matter of time before cracks will form in the concrete and the lighthouse could potentially tip over if hit with a large enough storm.”

"Vladimir Putin said that!"

Did I say that?
“I think that by this point in time we could all agree that when the word 'Leftist' is used in any political narrative that the term is synonymous with 'Democrats'. And in the minds of anyone on the right both terms denote a negative reflection of the discussion; if there is one! Many, if not all, democrats lose sight of rational thought the longer a tête-à-tête or open discussion lingers and they are the most persistent and loudest in the discourse...they never give in to reality "The truth of the matter." quote is never considered...rather the lie is always promoted.”
Yes! I said that.

But what if I said,
“America is like a healthy body and its resistance is threefold: its patriotism, its morality, and its spiritual life. If we can undermine these three areas, America will collapse from within.”
No! That was said by one of the most evil leaders of Communist Russia, Joseph Stalin.

Many of us on the right, especially among those who broadcast their beliefs over this thing called the Internet, have recognized what America’s problems are long before there’s any Congressional investigations or exposé in the main stream media. We recognize it because we are at the bottom of the political class who created the mess we’re in (gives some credence to the expression, ‘low man on the totem pole’). How many times have we heard the politicians say they’re going to fix the problems from the bottom up when just the opposite happens once they’re in office. The ‘control’ politicians have become used to is not what the Founding Fathers aspired to when they fought for our independence; they wanted a government controlled by ‘we the people’ but somewhere down the road the people we elected into office have forgotten their role in the process…and if I may be sinister about it, that forgetfulness is intentional (Recall the words of former Congressman Barney Frank, “The middle class won’t fight back.”).
When addressing the myriad of problems we have and wonder why our elected officials cannot seem to relate to them…aahh, “It’s a conspiracy theory!” they say. Yet one begins to wonder just how far we have fallen from our pinnacle of freedom when one of our adversaries recognizes the real issues facing us more so than our very own Congress. Non-other than the leader of Russia, Vladimir Putin, has put it in plain words that even the most ignorant congress person should understand… In his speech he is talking about European countries but he may very well be summarizing our own problems…it’s too bad that our political parties cannot see Putin’s ‘writing on the wall’.  When you are finished reading you can say, "Vladimir Putin said that!" ~ Norman E. Hooben

An excellent and insightful speech by Vladimir Putin; which illustrates very clearly why the globalists and the anti-Western media are so desperate to attack both him and Russia. ~ Vox Day

A further challenge for the national Russian identity is connected to the processes we observe outside of Russia. They include foreign policy, moral, and other aspects. We see that many Euro-Atlantic states have taken the way where they deny or reject their own roots, including their Christian roots which form the basis of Western civilization.

In these countries, the moral basis and any traditional identity are being denied - national, religious, cultural, and even gender identities are being denied or relativized. There, politics treats a family with many children as juridical equal to a homosexual partnership; faith in God is equal to faith in Satan. The excesses and exaggerations of political correctness in these countries indeed lead to a serious consideration for the legitimization of parties that promote the propaganda of pedophilia.

The people in many European states are actually ashamed of their religious affiliations and are indeed frightened to speak about them. Christian holidays and celebrations are abolished or "neutrally" renamed, as if one were ashamed of those Christian holidays. With this method one hides away the deeper moral value of those celebrations.

And these countries try to force this model onto other nations, globally. I am deeply convinced that this is a direct way to the degradation and primitivization of culture. This leads to deeper demographic and moral crisis in the West.

What can be better evidence for the moral crisis of human society in the West than the loss of its reproductive function? And today nearly all "developed" Western countries cannot survive reproductively, not even with the help of migrants.

Without the moral values that are rooted in Christianity and other world religions, without rules and moral values which have formed, and been developed, over millennia, people will inevitably lose their human dignity and become brutes. And we think it is right and natural to defend and preserve these Christian moral values.

One has to respect the right of every minority to self-determination, but at the same time there cannot and must not be any doubt about the rights of the majority.

At the same time as this process plays out at a national level in the West, we observe on an international level the attempts to create a unipolar, unified model of the world, to relativize and remove institutions of international rights and national sovereignty. In such a unipolar, unified world there is no place for sovereign states. Such a world needs merely vassals.

From a historical perspective, such a unipolar world would mean the surrender of one's own identity and of God-created diversity.

No wonder they hate and fear him so. He is a true nationalist who is not afraid to stand up in defense of both Christianity and the West... and he has nukes. For those casting about for the true leader of the Alt-Right, there is a strong candidate.

Comments:

Yes it was very well stated.

The west is a creation of Christianity and without that force is doomed to fail. For all its imperfections western European civilization combined with English limited government is the very best humanity has created to date. It should be celebrated, not denigrated.
It takes a KGB national leader to say this, while all the western leaders are mute. I truly find it hard to trust the Russian bear, but speaking the truth is a start. I hope he and Trump can come to a true rapprochement.

The FBI, The Lie, and Why...

FBI Chief Instructed Agents To Lie About Benghazi To Protect Hillary

Sean Adl-Tabatabai
Andrew McCabe

The agent found the instruction concerning because his unit had gathered incontrovertible evidence showing a major al Qaeda figure had directed the attack and the information had already been briefed to President Obama, the lawmaker said. -The Hill
Zerohedge.com reports: After the September 11, 2012 attack against U.S. government facilities in Benghazi, Libya, the Obama administration peddled a lie, telling the public that the attack was related to Muslims who had become enraged at an anti-Islam YouTube video, and not a planned act of terrorism – despite Hillary Clinton emailing Chelsea Clinton from her unsecure @clintonemail.com server the night of the attack to say exactly that.

Chelsea – using the pseudonym “Diane Reynolds” probably didn’t have the clearance to receive classified intelligence from her mother, the Secretary of State.

“Two of our officers were killed in Benghazi by an Al Queda-like group: The Ambassador, whom I handpicked and a young communications officer on temporary duty w a wife and two young children. Very hard day and I fear more of the same tomorrow.” -Hillary Clinton to Chelsea Clinton
And we now know FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe lied for the Obama administration in a clear, partisan violation of the FBI’s mandate to “detect and prosecute crimes against the United States,” not “lie for the President so as not to offend Islam.”
As Rep. DeSantis told The Hill:

“What operational reason would there be to issue an edict to agents telling them, in the face of virtually conclusive evidence to the contrary, not to categorize the Benghazi attack as a result of terrorism? By placing the interests of the Obama administration over the public’s interests, the order is yet another data point highlighting the politicization of the FBI.”

DeSantis and other GOP lawmakers say they plan to question FBI Director Christopher Wray at a Thursday hearing in front of the House Judiciary Committee about claims of growing concern among certain FBI supervisors over political bias clouding decisions at the highest levels of the agency.
The case against the FBI for overt political bias couldn’t be more clear. Over the last week we’ve learned of veteran FBI investigator Peter Strzok’s dismissal for texting his mistress anti-Trump messages, which the DOJ is handing over to the House Intelligence Committee. We also learned yesterday that a second prosecutor on Robert Mueller’s Special Counsel, Andrew Weissmann, praised then-acting Attorney General Sally Yates after she refused to defend President Trump’s travel ban.
Fox News reports:
A top prosecutor who is now a deputy for Special Counsel Robert Mueller s Russia probe praised then-acting attorney general Sally Yates after she was fired in January by President Trump for refusing to defend his controversial travel ban.
The email, obtained by Judicial Watch through a federal lawsuit, shows that on the night of Jan. 30, Andrew Weissmann wrote to Yates under the subject line, I am so proud.
He continued, And in awe. Thank you so much. All my deepest respects.
Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton called the new Weissmann document an astonishing and disturbing find.

“The data points we have regarding politicization are damning enough but appear all the more problematic when viewed against the backdrop of investigations whose ferocity seemed to depend on the target: the Clinton case was investigated with an eye towards how to exonerate her and her associates, while the Russia investigation is being conducted using scorched earth tactics that seek to find anything to use against Trump associates,” DeSantis told The Hill.
DeSantis also said his FBI source pointed to an incident after Trump’s National Security Advisor Mike Flynn resigned over lying to Vice President Mike Pence over his contacts with Russia’s ambassador. An FBI executive is said to have made an inappropriate comment during a video teleconference indicating that the agency had a personal motive in investigating Flynn and ruining his career.
“The wildly divergent ways these investigations have been conducted appear to dovetail with the political bias that has been uncovered,” DeSantis said.
In response to the overt political bias at the FBI, the Inspector General’s office (OIG) has launched an investigation into Strzok and other officials connected to both the Clinton email investigation as well as the Trump-Russia investigation. Agent Peter Strzok who was removed for anti-Trump text messages ran both investigations, the latter Trump-Russia having been taking over by Robert Mueller’s probe which he was recently kicked off of.
Deputy Director Andrew McCabe, meanwhile, is directly under investigation by the OIG for potentially violating the Hatch Act or engaged in ethical conflicts pertaining to his wife’s run for the Virginia senate in 2015 as a Democrat. She received $700,000 in campaign contributions tied to Virginia Governor Terry McAuliffe (D) – an ally of Hillary Clinton who was under FBI investigation at the time. The Hill reports that records show McCabe attended a March 2015 meeting with McAuliffe designed to secure the governor’s support of Jill McCabe’s candidacy.
As The Hill concludes:
McCabe has said he sought FBI legal advice on how to deal with his wife’s campaign. He nonetheless presided over the Clinton email case until just a few days before it was closed, when he unexpectedly recused himself.
Multiple Republican lawmakers said Wednesday they believe the email case was tainted by political favoritism and special treatment for the 2016 Democratic nominee and planned to press Wray about their concerns.
“We are here today calling for an investigation into FBI systems and procedures that have allowed special treatment and bias to run rampant,” Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-Fla.) said. “The law demands equal treatment for all, not ‘special’ treatment for some. There is a clear and consistent pattern of treating the Clinton investigation differently than other investigations.”
