Have faith America...we will not be destroyed because we have found 'one just and honest person'

by Norman E. Hooben
I'm not well-versed in the Bible but I recall a story from my childhood the nuns at the orphanage narrated to us...I should point out the nuns never quoted the bible, they just told us the stories that were part of a lesson plan and I'm sure the nuns knew these stories by heart.  Somewhere along the way from there to here I found the connections to the Bible and/or the story itself in some numbered bible verse.  As I said above, I'm not well-versed in these matters and verse numbers are never something that I could recall.  I think the nuns were effective in that I remembered the message and not the number.  One such message can be found in Jeremiah 5:1:
"Run up and down every street in Jerusalem," says the LORD. "Look high and low; search throughout the city! If you can find even one just and honest person, I will not destroy the city. (New Living Translation and other versions Jeremiah 5:1)

Now the passive reader may not see the relationship the verse above has with the modern world for it was written so long ago...so long, nobody knows exactly how long ago it was.  Is there a relationship to the story of Sodom and Gomorrah?  I look at the passage as a warning to today's society for the wrongful (should I dare say, "sinful") ways society has succumbed to that could best be described in Epistle of Saint Paul where he writes about Sodom and Gomorrah:
The wrath of God is being revealed from heaven against all the godlessness and wickedness of people, who suppress the truth by their wickedness...They have become filled with every kind of wickedness, evil, greed and depravity. They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit and malice. They are gossips,  slanderers, God-haters, insolent, arrogant and boastful; they invent ways of doing evil; they disobey their parents;  they have no understanding, no fidelity, no love, no mercy.
"God-haters, insolent, arrogant and boastful; they invent ways of doing evil."  Sure reads like a description of today's U.S. Congress especially the Democrats since they denounced God at their last convention.  The complete reading of Saint Paul's description can be found here but that one 'just and honest' person Jeremiah writes about can be found in the following video: (This is amazing!!! Wait for it...)

When I first read the subject line I thought the story was going to be about Dr. Ben Carson. It isn't but I found the story and related video very interesting.

This wasn't really a fair test of human kindness. Using children as props just screams "scam" and "disgusting abuser." I'd more likely call child welfare in the 2nd case. God bless the goodhearted, if naive, woman who finally helped.

Ref: "Using children as props just screams "scam" and "disgusting abuser."

Why so? Where is the abuse? The child acted out her role as intended...her coughing made it even more dramatic. Why didn't anyone care to donate if for any other reason, the child's sake? In the first half, why would anyone want to support the bad habits of a drug abuser? That's disgusting! Obviously you missed the message in the video?

Jesus still walks among us as recently with Mother Teresa. The media denies all the good altho' forsake evil is having its way in so many hearts. Christians need to flex their incredible power!!!!!!!!!
